In this January update, 24 prospects made their debuts, which increased the 2025 recruiting class to 125 ranked players. These 24 prospects were fantastic in 2022, but there were a select few that truly stood out amongst the other newcomers. Of the 24 that entered the rankings, these five prospects managed to join some elite company. Take a look the top newcomers from the recent Class of ’25 Player Rankings update.
While the highest debut in this update belongs to Jayden Woods Jayden Woods 6’3″ | 235 lbs | DL Mill Valley | 2025 State KS ; Josh Burdick Josh Burdick 6’0″ | 180 lbs | QB Cheney | 2025 State KS of Cheney nearly joined Woods in the Top 10. Burdick checks in with the second highest debut in this update, as he entered in at No. 13 overall and is the 2nd ranked quarterback in the class. He won the starting job this past fall, and had similar success that former Cardinal quarterback, Harrison Voth, had in 2021. The sophomore helped navigate the Cardinals to an 8-2 record, and completed 63% of his passes while throwing for 2,226 yards and 23 touchdowns. Burdick would take home a 3A All-State Honorable Mention nod, and an All-League Honorable Mention selection as well.
Following right behind Burdick at No. 14 overall in the class is Circle High running back, Westin Rose Westin Rose 5’11” | 180 lbs | RB Circle | 2025 State KS . It’s not very often that a sophomore is the leading rusher for an eight-win team. But Rose wasn’t the average sophomore back. Rose not only made his way into the Top 25 in this update, but he is also now the top-ranked running back in the class. This high debut comes after Rose finished the ’22 campaign with 868 yards and nine scores on 119 carries, and caught 13 passes for 201 yards with two touchdowns. He’d be recognized as an All-AVCTL D-III Honorable Mention pick, but look for him to compete for a 1st Team selection as a junior.
Along with a new top-ranked running back in this update, there is also now a new top-ranked linebacker. Maguire Richman Maguire Richman 6’2″ | 200 lbs | LB Blue Valley | 2025 State KS of Blue Valley comes in to take over the No. 1 spot for the position group, and is the 18th ranked prospect overall. In a league and classification level loaded at the linebacker position, Richman managed to take home some hardware in his first varsity season. The sophomore earned 2nd Team All-EKL honors, and was a 6A All-State Honorable Mention pick. He made a huge statement this past season by ending the year as Blue Valley’s leading tackler with 127 total. Look for Richman to be a key leader for Blue Valley this fall.
The Blue Valley Tiger football program has proved to consistently produce top prospects over the years. Their sophomore class is already headlined by Richman, but he wasn’t the only Tiger that established himself as a Top 25 player. Standout defensive end, Lincoln Stueve Lincoln Stueve 6’4″ | 220 lbs | DL Blue Valley | 2025 State KS , joins Richman in this update as the 19th ranked prospect overall and the 5th ranked defensive lineman in the class. Like Richman, Stueve was also a 2nd Team All-EKL selection, and he earned All-State honors as well. The rangy edge-rusher finished the season second behind Richman for the team lead in tackles, as he ended the year with 72 total, and came up with three forced fumbles along with three sacks.
Capping off this special group of prospects is the first tight end to be added to our 2025 Player Rankings. DaSaahn Brame DaSaahn Brame 6’6″ | 230 lbs | TE Derby | 2025 State KS enters the rankings at No. 20 overall after an impressive year of clearing running lanes for Derby’s dynamic offense. While Brame didn’t record a catch in his first varsity season, his impact went far beyond the box score. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound tight end made his money in the trenches, as he put together a season filled with highlight worthy blocking. His D-I level frame and physical abilities make him an intriguing prospect. It will be interesting to see if Derby utilizes his size in the passing game next season.
