Continue ReadingOur 2024 rankings were due for a big update – the last time we had gotten a chance to rank all these guys was prior to the 2022 season. Since then, many of the top players in the class have emerged one way or the other. While many of the top 15 maintained their status, several players made their introduction to the rankings or moved up a significant amount of spots. Let’s check out some huge risers into the top 15 in latest 2024 rankings update.
Previously: NRCurrent: No. 2rnPlaying limited time as a sophomore, Holmes County Central’s Terrance Hibbler Terrance Hibbler 6’3″ | 305 lbs | DL Holmes County Central | 2024 State MS was an unknown commodity entering the 2022 season in recruiting circles. What he displayed on film during his junior year shot him up the board from an unranked player all the way to the 2nd best player in Mississippi. Hibbler is a huge nose guard with the ability to play all over the interior of a defense at the next level. This is a guy with absurd twitch and movement at 305 pounds. Hibbler has a ton of natural strength as a pass rusher that helps him bully back opposing guards and centers in pursuit of the quarterback. Athletes like Hibbler are next to impossible to find on the defensive line, and colleges around the country have begun to take notice of his talents. The rising senior holds offers from Alabama, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Tennessee among many others.
Previously: NRCurrent: No. 6rnA defensive back on a loaded defense at Oak Grove, PJ Woodland PJ Woodland 6’0″ | 160 lbs | DB Oak Grove | 2024 State MS checks into the rankings for his first time. Woodland was a player that began to pick up looks and traffic during his huge junior campaign. The cornerback prospect is listed at 6’0″ 160 but shows plenty of room to fill out with continued growth and development. College coaches are looking for guys that can hold their own in man to man coverage, and Woodland has some of the best skills in the class at just that. The rising senior does a great job at mirroring receivers and shows little to no stiffness in his breaks on the ball. In addition, Woodland is a phenomenal athlete who can run with the best of them and has the ball skills to create big plays on both offense and defense. Holding offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, and Arkansas among others, Woodland is one of the most sought after defensive backs in the class.
Previously: NRCurrent: No. 8rnA star in 1A football last season, Kamron Beavers Kamron Beavers 6’3″ | 320 lbs | DL Bay Springs | 2024 State MS was a player we began to take notice of when watching his teammate Ty Jones Ty Jones 6’2″ | 200 lbs | RB Bay Springs | 2023 State MS . Beavers is a massive defensive line prospect at 6’4″ 330 and has the athleticism to play all over the defensive line at the next level. The rising senior has an elite get off at the line of scrimmage and knows how to time up the snap perfectly. As a run defender, Beavers can bully his way into the backfield or hawk down a ball carrier using his speed should the play go away from him. As a pass rusher, he shows the ability to bend and use his hands at a high level. Beavers holds offers from Alabama, Texas, LSU, Auburn and many others.
Previously: No. 38Current: No. 9rnA key contributor to the West Point offense, Kahnen Daniels Kahnen Daniels 6’1″ | 185 lbs | RB West Point | 2024 State MS elevated his tape in a huge way during the 2022 season. The athletic stand out played quarterback, running back, and wide receiver has the ability to score from anywhere on the field. Daniels stands at 6’1″ 190 and has the frame to play a variety of positions at the next level. He has elite speed to him and can kick it into another gear when he reaches the second level. In the open field, Daniels has excellent vision and can make defenders miss in space. This is a special player with the ball in his hands. He currently holds offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Oregon, Auburn, and many others.
Previously: No. 33Current: No. 11rnWith over 100 tackles and 11.5 sacks on the season, Jamonta Waller Jamonta Waller 6’2″ | 230 lbs | DL Picayune | 2024 State MS was a huge piece to Picayune’s state title run. Waller is a prototypical college edge who has an elite skill set to him. Off the ball, Waller runs great in space and has a ton of burst off the line of scrimmage. This is a player that could easily play outside backer in a 3-4 or 3-3-5 defense. The rising senior has a a great set of pass rush moves including a nasty swim move to him. He has a motor that runs hot and refuses to give up on the rush until the quarterback comes down. As a run defender, he uses his length extremely well and is violent at the point of attack. Holding offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Penn State, Oregon, and many other, Waller’s recruitment has taken off over the last few months.

Caleb Moore Caleb Moore 6’3″ | 250 lbs | DL Oak Grove | 2024 State MS is one of the premier players on it. At 6’3″ 250, Moore has the frame to play all across the defensive line at the next level. Currently, he plays inside and out in a 5 technique. Moore has great length to him and uses it to his advantage. As a pass rusher, Moore explodes off the ball and plays with exceptional pad level. He has a variety of pass rush moves that help him win in almost every situation. As a run defender, he uses his power to drive back offensive linemen and can use his speed to chase down ball carriers in the backfield. Moore is a player that has recently blown up on the recruiting scene, holding offers from LSU, Ole Miss, Texas, Mississippi State, and others so far.
