It’s just a matter of time before major programs flock to the state in pursuit of McWhorter, who just spent most of his freshman season as a starter for a playoff team. McWhorter threw for over 2000 yards his freshman season with 25 total TDs. Having seen him throw in person, his freshman production was not a fluke, but rather a sign of things to come. He is a smooth operator at the QB position with pinpoint accuracy. For a freshman, he has an uncanny ability to drop the ball to where only his receiver has a chance to make a play. He can also shorten up his delivery in the short game and fire lasers into tight windows. McWhorter also has some upside as a runner, showing decent enough athleticism for defenders to be weary of his legs. In my opinion, McWhorter has serious P5 upside and is only a shell of what he can become later in his high school career.
Christian Langford – 2025 – East Coweta
Langford showed flashes of excellence against good competition in his first year as a starter. Langford made plays all season with his arm and his legs, accumulating over 2500 yards of offense with 32 total TDs. As a passer, he has a quick release and throws the ball with plenty of velocity which allows him to distribute the ball all over the field efficiently. When on the move, he keeps his eyes downfield and has the ability to set his feet before tossing the ball down the field. To go along with his arm talent, he is a very gifted athlete that does damage with his legs. He has great speed and is a fluid runner with the ability to weave in and out of running lanes. With a stout 6’2 190ish build, he is able to lower his shoulder and generate extra yards if he wants to. Once he works through the kinks of being a young starter, Langford could be a prospect worth tracking on the trail. He showed P5-upside during his sophomore season.
Baxter Wright Baxter Wright 6'2" | 170 lbs | QB Gainesville | 2024 State GA – 2024 – Gainesville
Wright was one of the state’s true breakout players in 2022. Wright accumulated nearly 4000 total yards of offense with 49 total TDs on the year, making him one of the most productive players across the state, regardless of position. For a new starter, he showed confidence and grittiness, leading his team to the state championship game. Wright generates plenty of velocity on the ball with an unconventional delivery, firing the ball over the top and putting some good spin on it. He can make all throws on the field and hits his receivers in stride. As a runner, he has good speed and is not afraid to lower his shoulder and move the pile if needed. With a year of elite production under his belt, you will start to see his name more and more as we head into his senior season.
Jaiden Jenkins – 2024 – St. Francis
Jenkins is coming off a breakout junior season in which he flashed some serious promise. On the year, he threw for over 3000 yards, setting a career-high in passing yards as well as TDs and completion percentage. At his best, Jenkins has elite ball placement. He can throw the ball with great trajectory and place it where only his receiver can make a play on it. Shows very good mechanics in the pocket, throwing with all his cleats in the ground and keeping his eyes downfield when escaping. Jenkins also has a quick release, allowing him to hit receivers in stride and fit the ball into tight windows. Jenkins has steadily improved each season and could be due for a huge senior season.
KJ Smith KJ Smith 5'11" | 180 lbs | QB Roswell | 2024 State GA – 2024 – Roswell
Smith ended up being one of the best QBs in the state during his first year as the starter. All season, Smith made excellent plays in the air and lead Roswell to a region title. Smith threw for nearly 3000 yards and 34 TDs while completing 62% of his passes. Throughout the season, Smith showcased some excellent escapability in the pocket and the ability to make every throw on the field. Smith has a long and smooth release and can layer the ball exceptionally well, allowing him to reach receivers in hard-to-reach places. When the play breaks down, he has an exceptional ability to climb the pocket and scamper for a first down. Smith will start to make some noise this offseason. With another big senior season, this Roswell standout could turn into a late bloomer on the recruiting trail.
Preston Clemmer – 2024 – Cambridge
First-year starter that was plenty productive and showed promise in 2022. On the year, Clemmer threw for over 1200 yards and tallied 17 TDs to just 4 INTs. He was also extremely efficient on the ground, rushing for 551 yards and finding the endzone 8 times. On film, Clemmer possesses some rare explosiveness and acceleration for a QB, frequently showing the ability to outrun defenders and extend the play when protection breaks down. Clemmer has good pocket prescience and goes through multiple progressions before deciding to tuck it and run. Clemmer has a good arm and can put some serious spin on the ball, he also showcases the ability to throw off-platform and on the run. With his production and athleticism, Clemmer is a prospect that will start to turn some heads this offseason.
