When you travel the state of Mississippi searching for talent you find a lot of hidden gems. This class has a lot of them. Let’s check it out.
Coby Owens Coby Owens 6'1" | 205 lbs | ATH Saltillo | 2024 State MS , SS/LB, Saltillo
Owens is a guy that gained my attention when I came to see one of his opponents last season. He is a two way player that I was impressed with on defense. He was out there making some very solid plays. Then he would go on offense and make a lot of nice runs. That’s when I knew he was a guy. He plays linebacker for Saltillo, but I can see him fitting in at strong safety. He should have the skills to be able to step up and cover as well. Owens has a nice frame and isn’t slow. The more he betters his movements and coverage, the more his stock will rise. Keep an eye out for him.
Kamron Beavers, NG, Bay Springs
This is a guy everybody needs to become familiar with. Beavers gets offensive lineman in check when he’s in the trenches. He is a back to back state champ who brings a lot to the game. He is a about 6-foot-3, and weights around 290 pounds. Beavers knows how to move around that big frame. He has not been talked aboutmuch, but take my word for this one. When you watch his film you see that he also has very violent hands. He also has a quick release that helps him get in the backfield very fast. Beavers can help out in the passing game as well. I think he is definitely one that needs to be kept up with.
Javien Jackson Javien Jackson 6'0" | 210 lbs | LB Winona Secondary | 2024 State MS , OLB, Winona
Jackson is one of the most talented kids in the state. He also is a track star. He plays with his hands in the dirt on this level to help his team. However, I truly think he is an outside linebacker. I also think he is a guy that can possibly play safety. He is not a player that is limited. When I have attended some camps and combines, I have noticed he is good in coverage. This guy has a way of making big plays on the field. He is a guy that somebody needs to give a chance. I can see him fitting in well at a group of 5 school.
Doug Jones, LB, Houston
I’m glad I finally got a chance to brag on this tackling machine. He knows how to make plays. His vision against the run is amazing. He also has some nice size. He is around 6-0 and 195-pounds. Definitely has the body to grow into a nice size college backer. I think once he starts to get around more camps his name will get out there more. He needs to start getting ready for the camp season this year. Once people start realizing who he is things will take off for him.
