2023 Rankings: York County Zone Read (Defense)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 2022 high school football season brought a lot of physicality to the table and there was no shortage of defensive talent, especially at the linebacker position. Two prospects are either committed or signed to play college football in 2023.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In case you missed it, here's our look at who made the final cut on the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2023/01/2023-rankings-york-county-zone-read-offense/">offensive side of the ball.</a></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Defensive Line</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='443499' first='AJ' last='Miller']</strong>, South Pointe</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The physical makeup of Miller is evident as soon as you see him. And he plays with an aggressiveness that you would expect from someone his size. His swim move is incredible and opposing offensive linemen are undersized against him. He is in the backfield many times before the back can get going. The Shrine Bowl selection finished his senior season with 13.5 sacks, 105+ tackles and 20+ quarterback pressures. He can chase down quarterbacks or close off running lanes quickly. He made a living in opponents' backfield during the 2022 season. His lateral movements are quick as he follows the ball. But don't count out his ability to defend the pass as well – he made some critical interceptions to prevent scores down near the goal line. He sprints quickly on special teams to prevent a return as well. He finished the year with 100+ tackles and 12 TFLs. He doesn't miss tackles when they are open and he brings the heat when he makes tackles. He is long and has good range and can defend well against the deep ball.
