Diving into the newly added 2023 defensive backs in our updated PRZ Rankings, the three newcomers are next level caliber kids and are coming off tremendous Senior years. Below, we will take a look at the tale of their tape and provide a in-depth breakdown and analysis.
The 2023 defensive back has established himself as one of the top defenders in the state, and has really nice length and range for the position with elite downfield speed and ball skills. He currently picked up his first offer from NAU, and both Arizona State and Arizona have offered him PWO spots. Coming off a monster Senior campaign, he flashes a high IQ in zone coverage, quick trigger when breaking to the ball and runs through contact packing a punch at the POA. He is very fluid in his pedal, has loose hips in transition and is not afraid to drop down in the box and set the edge in run support. A 70+ tackle player last season, he should fit nicely at safety at the college level and could be a steal for any program.
Cameron is a very physical corner that excels near the LOS with a violent punch in press coverage and flips his hips quickly in transition while flashing outstanding ball skills and highpoint ability in traffic. He currently does not hold any offers, but is a no brainer D-II+ level prospect that has been severely under-recruited through out his prep career. When playing off, he shows solid eye discipline, patience and flashes recovery speed and a well timed swipe/punch when getting the ball loose. Capping off a very successful high school career, he cracks our newest PRZ 2023 rankings as a top 20 defensive back in the state.
Highlights
Tanner should fit nicely at safety in college and is a dynamic athlete that can also excel as a return man as well. He is a rangy third level defender that closes fast, tackles in space and takes good angles in the open field when triggering. When playing off, he has disciplined eyes, is physical with his hands in transition and shows some ball skills downfield with highpoint ability and a recovery gear if beat. Tanner checks in as a top player in our positional rankings and is very deserving to be added to the list of talented players with next level abilities.
