Now that Dutch Fork running back [player_tooltip player_id='91136' first='Jarvis' last='Green'] has concluded his high school career, it's time to reflect on what he meant to the Silver Foxes program.

He went out with a bang in the 47-10 victory over Fort Dorchester in the Class 5A state championship Saturday afternoon at Benedict's Charlie W. Johnson Stadium. Green ran for 241 yards, including 201 yards in the first half, with three rushing touchdowns and added three catches for 49 yards and another score.

Green scored on runs of 1,4, and 18 yards and caught a 13-yard TD pass.

Tom Knotts, who has won 14 state championships in his career between North Carolina and South Carolina, ranked Green as one of the best he's ever coached.

“I'm a complainer so I wish I had something to complain about, but I don't have anything to complain about [player_tooltip player_id='91136' first='Jarvis' last='Green'],” Knotts said. “I coached Brian Knuckles back in the early 90's. He went to Nebraska when Nebraska was Tailback U. He's every bit the same as Brian Knuckles. The thing that separates Jarvis is he can catch the football. He's a really great wide receiver.”

Green played in 13 games this season – missing two due to injury - and he typically played in just half of the other games because the lead was so large at the half, Green finished his final season with 2,272 yards and 33 rushing touchdowns. He added 36 receptions for 527 yards and six scores. Add in 10 kickoff returns for 271 yards and two touchdowns. He accounted for 92 career touchdowns, second all-time in program history.

“I don't know if I can say any more than I've already said,” Knotts said. “One, I don't understand why Dabo (Swinney) and (Shane) Beamer aren't over here knocking down the doors. I mean, they just can't tackle him when he gets on the perimeter. Two, he's a tremendous athlete. He's also a basketball player. He's started on the basketball team since the 8th grade. He's a tremendous student athlete.”

But it wasn't just the Green Show against the Patriots. He couldn't do it without an offensive line that brutalized the Fort Dorchester front. Dutch Fork rushed for 350 yards in the 529 total yards of offense. Going across the front, that group included Eli Furner, Cayden McFadden, Pressley Honeycutt, Trent Cobb and Jacob Beasley.

Aliam Applier was 7-for-7 for 179 yards and two touchdowns to go along with 52 yards rushing and two additional scores. Isaiah Jones was his top target with three catches for 119 yards that included a 68-yard TD reception.

“I felt like we were a better football team,” Knotts said. “If Jarvis was on his game and Aliam was on his game, and if our defense did what they were supposed to, which they have all year, I felt like, well I predicted something like that.”

The defense allowed 367 yards but held Fort Dorchester to one touchdown. The linebacking trio of [player_tooltip player_id='132398' first='Chandler' last='Perry'], [player_tooltip player_id='262678' first='Jaylen' last='Hinton'] and [player_tooltip player_id='336148' first='John' last='Buetow'] along with safety [player_tooltip player_id='262550' first='Landon' last='Danley'] have been spectacular all season. The result of all this is Dutch Fork claimed the Class 5A state title for the sixth time in the last seven years.

“It never gets old,” Knotts said. “Everyone is special, especially a state championship. After what happened last year, it was our focus. It was our drive and there wasn't a day that went by that we didn't talk about it, that we didn't reflect on it, we didn't try to learn from our mistakes. This is the result of it, a 47-10 thrashing.”

[player_tooltip player_id='89345' first='Zolten' last='Osborne'] threw for 109 yards with Mul-Ty Snider catching four passes for 109 yards for the Patriots. Zion Reynolds ran for 111 yards and freshman [player_tooltip player_id='473024' first='Ryan' last='Campbell'] scored the lone touchdown on a 49-yard run and finished with 80 yards.

Now that Dutch Fork running back Jarvis Green Jarvis Green Jarvis Green 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Dutch Fork | 2023 State SC has concluded his high school career, it's time to reflect on what he meant to the Silver Foxes program.
