Utah's 4A All State: Defense and Special Teams

Take a look at some of the defensive and special team players that made our All State team. These players have performed well and deserve a spot on our list along with others that need to be mentioned as well. Let's take a look....   Defensive Line: Travis Leiser, Mountain Crest HS Sr.   Leiser leads the 4A Class with 11 sacks, he's an athletic player with good initial quickness to read and react at the LOS. Shows good strength to control blocks at the LOS and can pursuit laterally to stop plays for short gains. A sure tackler that can make the sure hit at the LOS and the open field.   Defensive Line: Will Wheatley, Green Canyon HS Jr.   Wheatley had a productive year with 72 tackles and 9 sacks. A tough physical player that plays with good bend and burst in his stance. Good initial quickness to read and react at the LOS. Good use of hands to shock and shed as a run defender and quick contact to shed and accelerate to the QB as a pass rusher. Plays with a good motor to pursuit to the ball.   Defensive Line: Tilose Tupou, Logan HS Sr.   Tupou was busy in the trenches with 90 total tackles and 12 TFLs. He's a physical player with good initial quickness to read and react in the LOS. Shows good strength to control and shed blocks as a run defender. Good use of hands as a pass rusher to make quick contact to shed and release and lateral pursuit to stop plays for short or no gains.   Defensive Line: Matthew Villa - Rowe, Cedar HS Sr.   Villa - Rowe had a productive senior season with 9.5 sacks. He's a tough physical player with good bend and burst in his stance. Has good strength at the point to control drive and double team blocks. Good pursuit to the ball showing movement from snap to whistle. A good stout defender.   Linebacker: Carson Olsen, Mountain Crest HS Sr.   Olsen led the 4A Class in tackles with 142 averaging 10.9 per game. He's an athletic player that read and react in the trenches. Has a good knack for the ball to stop inside runs. Good lateral quickness to go sideline to sideline. A sure tackler with explosion that make the hit at the LOS and the open field.   Linebacker: Bryson Bennett, Cedar HS Sr.   Bennett kept himself busy in the trenches with 126 tackles averaging 11.5 per game. He's a tough physical player that can read and react quickly. Has good use of hands and a knack for the ball on inside runs. Good lateral quickness to move along the LOS and a good take off as a blitz rusher. Has keen desire for contact at the LOS and the open field as a tackler.   Linebacker: Treven Alldredge, Dixie HS Sr.   Alldredge had a good season racking up 119 tackles averaging 11.9 per game. A tough player that can play in the middle of the trenches. Has a good knack for the ball to stop plays on inside runs while also using good strength to control blocks at the POA to shed and tackle. Good lateral quickness to move along the LOS and a sure tackler that can make the sure hit at the LOS and the open field.   Defensive Back: Owen Munk, Ridgeline HS Sr.   Defensive Back: Jace Sweeten, Crimson Cliff HS Jr.   Defensive Back: [player_tooltip player_id='406940' first='Brooks' last='Esplin'], Snow Canyon HS Sr.   Defensive Back: [player_tooltip player_id='406896' first='Jake' last='Hill'], Snow Canyon HS Sr.   Kicker/Punter: Xander Jones, Desert Hills HS Jr.   Kicker/ Punter: Aaron Jones, Ridgeline HS So.
