The players who come to this weekend focused normally leave having good performances. You can’t enter this game nervous, and not ready. Championship week is made for champions.
Kamario Taylor, QB, Noxubee Co, 2025
Taylor was balling out for his team this past weekend. He went 14-of-24 passing, and had 287 yards. This kid is going to continue to raise his stock during the off-season. After this great performance he received an offer from Southern Miss. Look to hear his name mentioned a lot during the off-season.
Kendon Sanders Kendon Sanders 5'9" | 200 lbs | LB Louisville | 2024 State MS , LB, Louisville, 2024
Sanders went down to Hattiesburg, and had himself a good time. He recorded 13 tackles, and even scored a touchdown at running back. He was a major part in the Louisville Wildcats winning the state title. Sanders is a very aggressive linebacker that loves to make big hits. He does not shy away from making those kind of plays.
Braylon Burnside Braylon Burnside 6'1" | 180 lbs | ATH Starkville | 2024 State MS , Starkville, ATH, 2024
Burnside had 4 catches for 114 yards this past Saturday. He continues to show everybody why he is one of the best in the state on both sides of the ball. Burnside was taking balls away from defenders this past Saturday. He has a good combination of size and speed. Burnside also is an aggressive player. He knows how to step up when his teams need him.
Javeion Butler, Scott Central, WR, 2023
Butler had 5 catches for 131 yards Saturday. He also had two touchdowns. Butler is committed to Southern Miss, and he made sure he put on a great performance at the Rock this past weekend. Butler is a 6-foot-5 receiver that knows how to use his body to his advantage. He is going to do very well on the next level.
Courtland Cooper, Starkville, RB, 2025
Cooper had two touchdowns in Starkville’s victory over Brandon. He was a big help in this win, and you can bet that Starkville is glad that he will be back the next two years. With a great off-season Cooper could very well see his name start to get mentioned a lot of amongst the recruiting writing community. Cooper is a stud.
Nate Blount, Brandon, RB, 2024
Blount had 24 carries for 180 yards. Those were some very hard yards to gain against that great Starkville defense. Blount was doing everything he could to help his team win the game. His team did not win, but he made a great impression on a major stage. Blount has the size to make it on the next level. I would love to see him work on his speed. It is going to be interesting to see his journey during this off-season.
Suntarine Perkins Suntarine Perkins 6'1" | 190 lbs | ATH Raleigh | 2023 State MS , Raleigh, 2023
Perkins was the man who kicked the weekend off. On Raleigh’s first play from scrimmage, he took a running play 75 yards. He was bursting through that Noxubee County defense with a ease. It was like he was not even breaking a sweat. Lane Kiffin was in attendance to watch Perkins play and you can tell he liked what he saw. Perkins was mentioned all over social media after this great performance. He is a guy that Ole Miss fans have already fallen in love with.
