All of these student-athletes are coming off of their Junior seasons in which they’ve handled business and made a difference for their respective squads. Here are a few up and coming prospects that are making a name for themselves in the Magnolia State, and what NFL athletes that I would compare them to.
Chris Davis Chris Davis 6'0" | 175 lbs | RB Picayune | 2024 State MS | 2024 RB | Picayune Memorial | https://www.hudl.com/video/3/16961121/638e05c94deb6313b89659d5
Chris Davis Chris Davis 6'0" | 175 lbs | RB Picayune | 2024 State MS is a 6’0 175lb back out of Picayune that has “Big Play” written all over him. Watching him run the ball is like watching poetry in motion, and it’s not only due to the sub 4.4 40 time that he boasts. Chris’s elusiveness and willingness to fearlessly penetrate defensive fronts is what makes his game so special. He attacks the assigned holes and edge with the mindset that he can score on almost each carry that he’s granted. Davis has the ability to crank up to top speed in the blink of an eye in order to swiftly slice through defenses All this guy needs is a slither of daylight to make magic happen. He can also be an effective weapon out of the backfield in the passing game. Chris is not a power back, but he’s not just a speed guy either. This kid has shown the ability to break tackles due to his great balance and lower body strength. The NFL running-back that I would compare Chris Davis Chris Davis 6'0" | 175 lbs | RB Picayune | 2024 State MS ‘s game to would be Raheem Mostert. They both have similar running styles, builds, and also top end speed!
NFL Comparison: Raheem Mostert
Jeremy Scott Jeremy Scott 6'4" | 175 lbs | WR Callaway | 2024 State MS | 2024 WR | Callaway HS | https://access.qwikcut.com/highlights/6331d6f45b9ce667203f4f80
Mr.Scott is a long, rangy, wide-out by way of Callaway that has only began to scratch the surface of his true potential. Standing at an imposing 6’4 and weighing 190lbs, this kid is a specimen of a prospect. His route-running and ability to create space are both consistent attributes that he has apparently put time into. Jeremy has a wide catch radius that allows him to appear open and available when he is covered. The innate ability that he has to track the ball in the air and then locate it with his hands is what stood out to me. Similarly to NFL Wide-receiver Tee Higgins, Jeremy Scott Jeremy Scott 6'4" | 175 lbs | WR Callaway | 2024 State MS is a wide-out that can do a myriad of different things on the football field. He shows flashes of athleticism, and I believe that he will ultimately become a hybrid possession receiver with big play ability downfield. There are plays on his tape where he easily breaks free from defenders and make plays after the catch, but only on occasion. Jeremy is a guy that can go as high as the moon if he puts the work in to get to the next level. Mark my words, he will do just that!
NFL Comparison: Tee Higgins
Alex Foster | 2024 DE | St.Joseph (Greenville) | https://www.hudl.com/video/3/16361634/633c7800478d470bc8e2521a
Alex Foster is a prospect that appeals to the eye, me being an OL/DL guy, from first glance because he is an absolute unit! As a Junior, the 6’5 nearly 250lb prospective defensive-end recruit is beginning to figure the game out. He came into himself this season and put offenses on notice with his abilities to rush the passer and assist in run-support. He is yet another athlete on this list that has not reached his full potential yet, but once he does, it’s a wrap! I would like to see Alex become more physically opposing at the point of attack. He uses his hands fairly well in hand fighting on pass rushes, but I want to see more violence out of him in terms of his hand usage. The comparison that comes to mind in regards to Alex Foster is Cam Jordan. They are both defensive ends that can do it all. Alex plays with his hand in the dirt, and at times he comes out of a two point stance. Similar to Cam! Alex has a frame similar to Cam, long arms with a core built to play the defensive end position. Foster’s recruiting trail will pick up steam this off-season; remember that you heard it here first.
