Fegans is an instinctive ball hawk that shifts the game anytime the ball is thrown his way. The sophomore is one of the best secondary players in the nation and makes plays weekly. With amazing closing speed, he seems to always be in range and has an uncanny quickness at the point of attack. This gives him an extraordinary playmaking radius. Fegans also has soft hands and doesn’t miss opportunities to generate turnovers. Once the ball is in his hands, he molds into a running back and is fully capable of weaving his way to the endzone. With several pick-sixes, Fegans is someone the opposing offense always has to account for. As one of the younger prospects on the list, look for Fegans to continue his ascension and develop into a prospect who can have an immediate impact at a power five college.
Harris is a dynamic playmaker who gets it done against the run and the pass. The blue chip has the next-level length, burst, and skill to be an impact guy on the next level. In coverage, he displays fluid hips and explosive change of direction getting out of his back pedals. This enabled him to patrol his side of the field and be a menace in zone coverage. When going for the ball, he adjusts to the ball like a receiver. He frequently converted circus interceptions with excellent hand-eye coordination, body control, and tracking skill. Harris also shows toughness at the point of attack with a willingness to be physical while forcing the ball out of the guy’s hands. Though Harris possesses a wiry frame, he has solid strength for his size when shredding blocks on the perimeter. Plays with a linebacker’s mentality when tackling and seems always to be the hammer – not the nail. With the best all-around skill set of any corner in the state, Harris is a sure-fire first-teamer and a future impact player for the Bulldogs.
Highlights
Kirkpatrick used this season to propel himself into elite conversations. The film says he’s one of the best covers guys in the state despite playing most of his snaps at safety. Whenever he lined up at the corner of Kirkpatrick island was in full effect. With footwork, IQ, and nuance, he can close airspace and force QBs to deliver the perfect pass. He squeezes guys to the sideline, disrupts timing at the line of scrimmage with the press, and times the ball while playing through the hands, causing incompletions. This competitive elite toughness allows him to finish plays and play through the whistle- causing last-second deflections, forced fumbles, and score-saving tackles. Though he has some excellent cover skills, Kirkpatrick punches above his size when making tackles and has no issues being an enforcer. He is willing to sacrifice his body when battling in the open field against bigger ball carriers and wins most of those reps. It’ll be interesting to see how Kirkpatrick builds on this season and who can will find this diamond in the rough first.
Cole Porter
Cole Porter
Porter was one of the more productive secondary players in the state. He ranked top five in interceptions while recording 16 pass breakups- which speaks to his knack for making plays on the ball. Porter has a tremendous sense of positioning and is usually at the right place at the right time. He uses the sideline as an extra defender, boxes guys out of the play, and use his length to disrupt the play. In addition, Porter displays great reaction time at the top of the route and anticipates breaks with the best of them. His excellent quick twitch and reaction time gives him the inch of advantage needed to beat guys to the spot and generate positive plays. Porter also has a knack for making diving catches, high pointing the ball, and plucking 50/50 balls- forcing the offense to think twice before throwing his way. Though he isn’t a household name, Porter is a standout corner who should climb the rankings and find interest at the next level.
