Tasusili Akana || LB || 6’4 || 215 || Skyridge High School ||2023
Akana is our top-ranked player in the class of 2023 for a reason. The versatile linebacker had 15 sacks on the season and lines up all over the field. He beat some of the state’s top tackles and racked up pressure after pressure. Akana easily converts speed to power, and his elite bend allows him to collapse the pocket quickly. Speaking of speed, Akana possesses an elite get-off that enables him to beat offensive linemen off the snap. He is well-versed in his rushes and is relentless on each dropback. Akana can go through, under, or around anyone, and he’ll do it at the next level.
Jr Sia Jr Sia 6'6" | 305 lbs | OL Mountain Ridge | 2023 State UT || OL || 6’6 || 308 || Mountain Ridge High School || 2023
Sia is the type of player every team dreams of having protecting their quarterback’s blindside. Sia has the size and power to overpower defensive linemen. He has no problem opening holes or working up to the second level. Sia can drive back any defensive end in the state if he gets his hands on them. There is no bull rushing Sia, and he has good footwork to allow him to cut off pass rushers. Sia can also get out in space and punish smaller defenders. The elite tackle is aggressive off the snap and delivers a devastating first punch.
Sesi Vailahi Sesi Vailahi 5'11" | 190 lbs | DB West | 2023 State UT || ATH || 5’11 || 190 || West High School || 2023
Sesi is an elite player in terms of what he does on the field and how he approaches the game. Vailahi has shined for the Panthers at Running Back, Receiver, and all over the felid on defense. As one of the state’s top athletes, Vailahi can make plays with the ball in his hands or stop whoever’s carrying it. In addition, Vailahi has great instincts he uses to hit holes, run crisp routes, and read quarterbacks when dropping into coverage. He never misses a tackle and, against Mater Dei, shined against some of the state’s top talent. Whatever team gets Vailahi at the next level will be extremely lucky.
Jarvis Griffith || 6’2 || 282 || American Fork High School || 2023
To be a leader along the offensive line, you must be a great communicator and let your play do the talking. Griffith shines in both these areas and many other phases of the game. He explodes off the snap and doesn’t stop his feet on contact. He’s tenacious and loves to finish blocks. Griffith takes good pulling paths and angles when trying to meet defenders. He does an outstanding job working with his teammates in pass protection if uncovered or double-teaming to the second level. Griffith has a violent first punch, and it’s done dishing it out big-time blocks.
