The winner of the 6A Mr Football award of the 2022 season was one of the most dominant players in the entire state. With over 2,100 passing yards and 21 passing touchdowns, 1,760 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns, and 3 interceptions on defense, Hubbard was a versatile playmaker on both the ground and in the air. Although he spent most of his high school snaps playing quarterback, Hubbard is a defensive back prospect for the Crimson Tide and will look to continue his career on the defensive side of the football.

Blowing up prior to our last rankings update, Quindarrius Jones Quindarrius Jones 6’2″ | 185 lbs | ATH Meridian | 2023 State MS was a standout player who dominated the camp circuit this past summer. Jones played wide out and defensive back for Meridian and will look to continue his career for the Florida State Seminoles on the defensive side of the ball. With the length, physicality, and speed that Jones has, it is hard to not see a ton of untapped potential in him. Big time upside in the senior to be a future starter at defense back for FSU.

State champion Gabriel Moore Gabriel Moore 6’4″ | 245 lbs | DL Louisville | 2023 State MS carried on the Louisville tradition of producing a dominant defensive this year. Throughout the year, Moore totaled over 40 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, and 6 forced fumbles off the edge. The long pass rusher showed great burst off the ball, ability to bend in space, and a variety of moves to get after the quarterback. It is no shocker that Mississippi State took notice of his talents earlier this month. Moore will look to sign with the Bulldogs and continue his career as a defensive end in Starkville.

Committed to Mississippi State this summer, safety Dante Kelly Dante Kelly 6’3″ | 205 lbs | DB LeFlore | 2023 State MS opened things up during his senior season. At 6’3″ 200, Kelly is a special athlete that ran a sub 4.50 40 at camps this past summer. He has the ball skills and physicality to be a high impact player at the next level especially in the SEC. There just aren’t a lot of guys that can move and hit like Kelly can in secondaries around the country. Kelly is committed to Vanderbilt and will seek early playing time for the Commodores.

Lester Miller Lester Miller 6’0″ | 160 lbs | WR Brandon | 2023 State MS has been a stand out for Brandon High School over the course of his 4 year career at both wide out and defensive back. Playing receiver for the Bulldogs this year, Miller totaled 1,484 yards and 16 touchdowns during his senior campaign. An Akron commit at one point, Miller has opened up his recruitment and is still looking at his options. He should have no shortage of them, as the wide out has smooth route running, great hands, and the ability to create on his own after the catch.

One of the most dominant players in 2A over the last few seasons, Javieon Butler Javieon Butler 6’5″ | 210 lbs | WR Scott Central | 2023 State MS had a massive senior season this year. Catching 63 passes for 1,366 yards and 18 touchdowns, Butler is a massive threat on the outside. With his 6’5″ frame and speed added to his game, Butler is the kind of prototypical player that college coaches will want to scheme their offense around. Lucky enough for Butler, he will have the opportunity to stay in state and play for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles for the next 4 years.

No shame in admitting we missed HARD on Mason Clinton Mason Clinton 6’5″ | 265 lbs | DL Petal | 2023 State MS the first time he was introduced to our rankings. Clinton put up a huge senior year of tape, which led to multiple next level opportunities across the ranks. A tall and long defensive lineman, Clinton was a one man wrecking crew on the Petal defense. As a run stopper, he plays with strong hands and explosion off the ball. As a pass rusher, Clinton uses his length to create separation with opposing offensive linemen and can often out-athlete them as well. Earlier this month, he committed to Louisiana Lafayette.
