As the college season is winding down, coaches will be on the road searching for welcomed additions to their program, and best believe they will flock to Georgia. Here, we pinpoint some prospects across all classes that I would offer today.
Tate Morris – 2023 – QB – McIntosh
Morris is one of the true late bloomers in Georgia this season. The dynamic signal caller blew up onto the scene as a senior and was one of the most productive players in Georgia. Morris passed for over 3000 yards and rushed for over 1000 while totaling 26 TDs on the year. Morris shows great passing mechanics, stepping into his throws and navigating the pocket exceptionally well. He has an RB-like build and mindset when he runs the ball, adding another element to his game and making him extremely hard to contain. With his explosion onto the scene and his ability to do a lot of things really well, I would offer Morris and find where he best fits.
KJ Smith – 2024 – QB – Roswell
Smith is one of the best-kept national secrets in Georgia, and I’d shout it from the mountaintops. Nowadays, college offenses are predicated on attacking space and getting the ball out quickly. At Roswell, Smith ran an offense very similar to what we see in college, and he runs it very well. He has a lighting quick release and can put the ball into tight windows, attacking the short and intermediate passing games. However, he can also put plenty of touch on the ball and layer it over defenders, giving only his receiver a chance to make a play on the ball. He also has great pocket awareness, climbing the pocket and showing the ability to stand in and take hits. Has Houdini-like elusiveness in the pocket, yet is calm and composed while creating. If Smith was 6’3 instead of 5’11, we would be talking about a blue-chip prospect. In my opinion, he is one of the most polished QBs in the state both as a passer and mentally. On top of that, his best football is ahead of him.
EJ Colson EJ Colson 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Cedar Grove | 2025 State GA – 2025 – QB – Cedar Grove
As a freshman, Colson showed some flashes of excellence. As a sophomore, he turned into one of the state’s breakout players and is starting to emerge as a national prospect. Colson is a rare blend of athleticism and arm talent, showcasing the ability to attack the defense with his arm and with his legs. He is able to make the drive throws and the touch throws, showing the ability to attack all levels of the field and pick apart the defense. Along with his athleticism, Colson is as tough as they come, which he showcased in the state championship game. Colson already holds an offer from Nebraska, and as he continues to develop, I expect his stock to continue to rise.
Cameron Robinson Cameron Robinson 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Norcross | 2024 GA – 2024 – RB – Mill Creek
Robinson’s stock is on the rise after an elite showing in the state championship game. On film, Robinson showcases some serious explosiveness and fluidity. Extremely elusive runner that is dangerous when given space. In the open field, he can make defenders miss with quick and simple cuts. With just a little bit of separation, he has the acceleration to run by the rest of the defense and find the endzone. Robinson produced at an extremely high level all year in a loaded region of high school football. To me, that is more than enough to warrant an offer, and I expect those to be on the way shortly.
Kyle Vaka Kyle Vaka 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Kell | 2024 State GA – 2024 – WR – Johns Creek
I predicted Vaka to have a breakout 2022 season before the year started, and he surely did. Vaka finished with over 700 receiving yards and 5 TDs, his best year yet. Vaka has always had good speed, but it looks like he got bigger this year and posed a more physical threat on the outside. He is really explosive and wins at the line of scrimmage, generating separation almost immediately. He is able to track the ball in the air and has good body control, showing the ability to readjust to the ball path and make tough catches. We knew Vaka was dangerous with the ball in his hands, and we now see that he can be a physical force on the outside. Vaka has plenty of tools, and his best football is still ahead of him.
Hunter Teal Hunter Teal 6'2" | 220 lbs | TE Walton | 2024 State GA – 2024 – TE – Walton
As I mentioned earlier, college offenses nowadays like to attack space and put their best pass-catchers on the field. Hunter Teal Hunter Teal 6'2" | 220 lbs | TE Walton | 2024 State GA fits that mold and proved it by being the most productive TE in Georgia in 2022. Teal isn’t the “prototype” TE when it comes to size and athletic ability, but he has soft yet strong hands and can catch anything thrown his way. If you need a first down on 4th and 3, Teal is your go-to. Again, he is not a freakish athlete, but he has good body control and can win 1 on 1’s by creating leverage with his stocky, yet athletic build. If you’re looking for a consistent pass catcher to pair with other outside playmakers, Teal is your guy. He can sit in soft spots of the defense and reel in numerous passes a game. He can also stay upright while lumbering down the field for big gains. Teal is reliable and fits plenty of modern-day schemes, which is why I would offer him today.
