There are two names that lit the scoreboards up for their hometowns this year. These guys were amazing in every inch of the word. I saw these guys make a lot of incredible plays. It is hard to break these decisions down to only two players. We added some more guys that performed well also.

5A North Offensive Player of the Year, [player_tooltip player_id='344052' first='Kahnen' last='Daniels']

Daniels is an absolute stud that helped lead his team back to the state championship. Daniels was amazing all season recording over 1500 rushing yards with 20 touchdowns to go along with that. He is a guy that loves to finish runs. If you are the last defender coming in to make the tackle you are going to feel his wrath. He is also very fast. Daniels was clocked at a 4.51 last summer. He saw his stock rise this year as well. Daniels is the type of running back that any coach would love to have on their team. He has offers to Mississippi State, Southern Miss and Vanderbilt. He is definitely a power five running back who will do great on the next level.

5A South Offensive Player of the Year, [player_tooltip player_id='108971' first='Dante' last='Dowdell']

Dowdell lead his team to a back-to-back state championships over West Point. A lot of fans were calling him King Dante this year. He truly lived up to that name. Dowdell is a running back that you can give the ball to thirty times a game. He gets better with each snap. Oregon has recently been reassured that he will be playing football in Eugene next fall. He won Mr. 5A this year. That was a well-deserved reward. His name is very familiar amongst a lot of different platforms. Miss State and Ole Miss are steady working very hard to change Dowdell's mind on where he will be furthering his education.

Honorable Mentions

[player_tooltip player_id='108931' first='Kaden' last='Irving'] name has to be mentioned when you talk about the best offensive players in the state. This guy was lights out all season. He did a great job leading his team to the semi finals. During the division championship against Picayune, him and his team almost pulled out a victory. As of now it looks like his days of playing football are done. Irving signed with Ole Miss to play baseball. That wasn't a bad decision at all. He is very explosive on the diamond playing offense and defense. He is a home run specialist. Irving was using that big arm on the gridiron this past football season. Irving is definitely a top quarterback in the state for the 2023 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='548452' first='John' last='Peterson'] just puts up numbers. Vancleave has a way of making sure their running backs get their yards. Peterson has a lot of speed, and knows how to choose the right hole. He was recently extended an offer to Mississippi College. He also has a few JUCO offers. Peterson has great hands that help him make a lot of plays out of the backfield. I can see him doing great on the D2 or FCS level. His stats this year were amazing. He rushed for over 2000 yards and had over 20 touchdowns. Peterson is a fan favorite around all of Mississippi.
