In Texas, all of the state games were held at one place The AT&T Stadium in Dallas, TX. One of the best Stadiums in the country and there we get to witness the results of all these young men’s hard work. Throughout the weekend there were 12 games meaning 12 championship teams and 23 athletes that were awarded MVPs on both offense and defense. I will be breaking down all the offensive and defensive MVPs from each championship team.
3A Division II Gunter Tigers vs Poth Pirates 42-7
Offense MVP (Gunter): #32 Ashton Bennett MLB, RB Sr 5’10 200 lbs
Ashton Bennett was a straight beast. Ashton as a running back ran the ball with ferocity and fought for every single yard he could get. When he was not running the ball Ashton would provide great support by blocking a defender out of the play. Ashton was also aggressive on defense as a middle linebacker tackling anyone in his sight. Ashton is a top college prospect having numerous college and university offers from; the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor, Howard Payne University, Southwestern University, Sul Ross State University, and Hardin Simmons University. Ashton’s stats were 87 rushing yards with 2 touchdowns and on defense 3 tackles.
Defense MVP (Gunter): #3 Collin Peacock FS, WR So 6’1 180 lbs
Collin Peacock is an efficient free safety. Collin would perform his defensive duty adequately covering his zone and tackling anyone in his sights. Poth’s offense only scored one touchdown the entire game because Collin was playing the best defense he could. Collin was also able to prevent a touchdown by catching an interception. Collin’s stats were 5 total tackles and an interception.
3A Division I Brock Eagles vs Franklin Lions 14-17
Offense MVP (Franklin): #1 Jayden Jackson Jayden Jackson 5'11" | 200 lbs | RB Franklin | 2025 State TX RB So 6’0 230 lbs
Jayden Jackson Jayden Jackson 5'11" | 200 lbs | RB Franklin | 2025 State TX is a phenomenal sophomore running back. This was a tough game from start to finish but that made Jayden play even better. Jayden is quick, but because of his size is an extremely tough and durable runner. Jayden would bulldoze his way through defenders and was the only one on offense to score a touchdown. Being only in his sophomore year at a small school Jayden still has the attention of D1 colleges getting an offer from Texas Tech University. Jayden’s stats were 146 rushing yards for 1 touchdown.
Defense MVP (Franklin): #10 Fragiel Owens SB, FS Sr 6’0 130 lbs
Fragile Owens is a solid free safety. Fragiel is not one of the biggest players around, but he is an efficient player having no unnecessary movement and was able to properly read Brock’s offense. Fragiel best play was when he recovered a fumble for a 64-yard touchdown. This changed the whole game for Franklin and helped led them to the championship title. Fragiel’s stats were 3 tackles, forced a fumble, and another 64-yard fumble return touchdown.
