Below, we will highlight some of these prospects and breakdown their Junior season film from 2022.
Highlights
Hymas is a very active and mobile signal caller with a quick release, strong arm and is not afraid to force the ball into tight windows between defenders. In the pocket, he feels pressure well and can throw on the run across his body while scanning defenses quickly and not afraid to check it down when needed. He had a terrific Junior season and is a no brainer top quarterback across Idaho with the ability to make a big impact at the college level.
Highlights
Connors is a pocket passer that can also run when needed and throws a nice ball with zip on it while throwing his receivers open and able to connect on long throws downfield. He got hurt early in the season and had to sit out most of the year, but will be in line for a comeback season in 2023 and should have a big off-season to help raise his stock.
Kizziar is a big physical kid with a strong arm both underneath and over the top while putting nice zip on the ball and able to air it out while letting his receivers run underneath. In the intermediate game, he leads his receivers while comfortable throwing outbreaking routes across the opposite hash while showing some pocket mobility and ability to throw on the run across his body. Still growing and developing technically, he has earned his way into our 2024 rankings and joined the QB room.
Highlights
Hottinger has the ideal size for the next level and should start to see college interest come his way in the coming months and as he progresses through his Senior season in 2023. He is a patient thrower that goes through his progressions and shows a quick release and accuracy downfield. Knowing when to air it out and zip it into tight windows, he is a high IQ kid that knows when to step up and deliver while hard to bring down in the pocket due to his lower body strength and big frame.
Peterson enters into our rankings this time around after putting together a nice Junior season for Capital High School and showing off his athleticism in the backfield and his dual-threat abilities. He is a still developing prospect, but has some natural abilities for the position and is a name to watch as we draw closer to next season and get into this off-season. Peterson was a multiple week Player of the Week honoree and went over the 200+ yard park passing multiple times this season.
Smith is a mobile quarterback with light and active feet in the pocket, while always keeping his eyes downfield and able to put nice velocity on his deep ball and throw it over the top of safeties. Although able to extend plays with his feet and move the pocket, he is not afraid to take a shot in order to deliver a ball and seems comfortable throwing both in-breaking and outbreaking routes underneath. Checking in as a top 10 quarterback in Idaho, he should collect small college interest as he progresses through his Senior season in 2023.
