I will be taking a look at some players that might be underrated compared to others going into next year and I want to take a look at them. So, let’s dive right in and look at some Underrated Stars returning for next year.
Austin Brummels Austin Brummels 5'10" | 185 lbs | LB Sioux Falls Jefferson | 2024 State SD – LB, Brandon Valley
Brummels has shipped up the entire year to be one of the top defenders on his team’s defense and having him back next year will be something that his team will be thankful for. Brummels has shown the entire year that he is not a one-dimensional linebacker, he can play some great one-coverage to have your passing game be elite and also line up outside as an edge rusher who can get to the QB fast. He has some elite speed for an LB and he can be a true threat anywhere on the field at any given time for that. Brummels has shown time and time again this year that he is a true defensive threat that can play just about anywhere on the field, and that he can fill any slot, something that college coaches should look at with him.
Jaxsen Grevengoed Jaxsen Grevengoed 5'10" | 185 lbs | WR Sioux Falls Roosevelt | 2024 State SD – WR, Sioux Falls Roosevelt
Grevengoed showed elite flashes of wide-out talent this year and he has been a player I have loved to watch to the tape of simply for how well he has mastered his game. What I like most about him is how his game is ready to go onto the college level if he goes there, that being he has some natural talents with his hands and speed, making him a great safety blanket style of the receiver. He can always find a way to get open and it is impressive to me that he can always be in touch with his QB and seems he can form a mental connection with them. Grevengoed has shown time and time again that he is a wideout that a coach would love to have play for them and his play has shown that he has some of the most college-ready play there is, making him a player to watch next year.
Tyan Buus Tyan Buus 5'10" | 160 lbs | WR Pierre TF Riggs | 2024 State SD – WR, Sturgis
Buus has shown a great level of work ethic and wants to improve his game every chance that he gets, with how talented he is, it seems he has really found a stride in being a talented wideout. Buus is something of a do-it-all style of receiver that can play inside on the line, outside, or even in the slot, is truly an offensive weapon that loves to break off for big runs and score most often. He is also an elite red zone threat, if his team is down on the goal line, you better make sure you are holding him tight, or else you better expect him to score. He has established himself as a great offensive player and even more so as a hard-working team player, someone that is flying up my ranking list of wideouts.
Sam Kooima Sam Kooima 5'11" | 175 lbs | ATH Lead-Deadwood | 2024 State SD – QB/LB, Lead-Deadwood
Kooima is an elite player on both sides of the ball and he has shown that he can be simply elite while getting consistent on both sides of the ball, making him a high-rising prospect. Kooima on the offensive side of the ball is mainly a mobile QB who can quickly break out of the pocket and not take sacks compare to the other QBs. He might not have the biggest arm but he makes some smart reads and has some power behind his throws, rocketing passes into his receivers and making plays. He is a sheer playmaker and someone that can improvise on the fly, making him one of the smart QBs I have watched films of. His defensive skills are nothing to be slept on either, he is a great coverage linebacker who can lurk around the field and get some picks by reading the offense like a book. Kooima is such an interesting prospect to be since I could see him playing QB or LB at a high level to anywhere he goes, make sure to watch out for him this year.
