On paper CE Kings seems to be the better team, however, Hightower’s recent transition to 6A has been smooth sailing for the most part only losing to Westfield and Ridge Point. Both Hightower and C.E Kings have a lot of nationally ranked athletes that I will be discussing in this article.
C.E Kings Panthers
#12 Dylan Spencer Dylan Spencer 6'5" | 245 lbs | DL C.E. King | 2023 State TX DE, MLB Sr 6’5
Dylan Spencer Dylan Spencer 6'5" | 245 lbs | DL C.E. King | 2023 State TX is tall and slender very appropriately built for a defensive end. Dylan was fast and quick off the ball and always made his way into the backfield. Last season I saw Dylan make a ton of sacks and stopped running backs as soon as they got the ball. Dylan is a top college prospect with numerous college and university offers but decided to commit to The University of Texas for the fall 2023 football season.
#4 Keith Willis RB Sr 6’0 225 lbs
Keith Willis is one of the biggest high school running backs I’ve ever seen. Keith weighting at 225 I thought he would be more of a power back, but to my surprise, he excels with his speed and quickness. Keith is like a wrecking ball coming down with speed and velocity destroying everything in his path. Keith is the cornerstone of the C.E Kings’ offense and a big reason why they’re still in the playoffs. Keith currently has four colleges and university offers from; McNeese State University, the University of Incarnate Word, Blinn Junior College, and the University of Northern Iowa
Hightower Hurricanes
#6 Jeremy Payne Jeremy Payne 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Fort Bend Hightower | 2024 State TX RB Jr 5’11 175 lbs
Jeremy Payne Jeremy Payne 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Fort Bend Hightower | 2024 State TX is a running back with a lot of speed and power. Numerous times Jeremy can dash through defenders with breakneck speed for a big gain. Jeremy is a standout running back in his junior year has become nationally ranked and is a top 5 player in Houston. When I wrote about Jeremy last year he had three college offers now he has 10+ from; Southern Methodist University, Texas Southern University, Indiana University, University of Oklahoma, Texas Christian University, etc.
#1 Joseph Stewart Jr QB So 5’10 175 lbs
Joseph Stewart is making a big name for himself. Joseph as a quarterback has a pretty good arm but is a mobile quarterback with commendable footwork. Joseph under pressure or in a pinch is not afraid to run the ball which would result in a 1st down. Joseph has steadily improved throughout the season especially being new to the varsity this season. During week 2 I predicted that Joseph would make the Hightower Hurricanes offense his own and has guided them into round 3 of the playoffs.
