The Super 7 State Football Championship is HERE! What a perfect time to talk about some incredible players I’ve had the pleasure of following all season as they prepare for the biggest games of their high school careers. I believe that the players that are being covered are some premium players who will get the spotlight one more time before the end of their season. I have had the opportunity to cover the following high schools: Leroy High School, Pickens County High School, St. James High School, Piedmont High School, Charles Henderson High School, and Ramsay High School. These programs have developed some amazing talent and are so close to holding the 2022 State Football Championship!
As I always say, let’s dive into some Alabama football.
Bryston Dixon
Bryston Dixon
Dixon succeeded in pass-rushing this season. He is quick at the moment of attack, allowing him to go upfield and establish advantage by striking at guards. Dixon has a burst to close in addition to his first-step quickness, and when he breaks free, he is on the quarterback like a flash. Dixon’s hand use is remarkably highly developed for such a young player, in addition to his exceptional pace. He moves his hands and feet simultaneously, making him impossible to block. Dixon frequently sheds blocks with his hands, rip move, swim move, and upper-body strength to hurl blockers aside. He also possesses a strong bull rush. This kid is in the midst of one of the most important games of his career, and I can’t wait to see how he handles it.

Korbit Sommerville
Korbit Sommerville
There is a lot to like about Sommerville; he is an excellent player for the Pickens County Tornados. He is a quick and incisive runner with exceptional first-step quickness and the ability to burst to the second level and dart downfield. Sommerville is an extremely elusive runner who uses his fast feet, cutting skill, vision, and lateral agility to avoid tacklers. He has the ability to break long runs on any carry. Sommerville is also an dangerous receiver. He was speedy out of the backfield and ran routes out of the slot. Sommerville creates separation with his quickness and collects the ball with delicate hands. Just watching this kid has shown me how valuable he is to his program. Coming into the state championship game he looks to help lead his team to a victory.
Beard’s game-changing speed is what distinguishes him. He is lightning quick and can score from anywhere on the field. Beard is a real flyer who can burn coverage over the top and knock the top off a defense. Beard is nearly tough to follow down when he escapes because his dynamic speed may remove angles. Beard is a receiver who can catch a quick slant out of the backfield. He also has some secondary moves and can run after the catch, but he is largely a straight-line runner who uses his speed to get away from tacklers. Beard has good hands and route-running abilities. This season, watching this incredible athlete has shown me how underrated he is. I believe he is more gifted than most receivers in the state, and that this will be evident in his championship matchup.

Jack Hayes
Jack Hayes
First and foremost, Hayes is a precise pocket passer who passes with exceptional ball placement in the short to intermediate section of the field. Hayes has good anticipation for when and where receivers will open. Hayes strikes receivers on the run with his feel and timing, causing them to gain yards after the catch. He also consistently throws receivers open and assists them in finding room to defeat tight coverage. He’s a smooth, accurate passer who can be lethal when he gets into a rhythm. Hayes is at ease in his pocket, but he also has the flexibility to shift around to gain time. While he is hardly a running quarterback, he is mobile enough to escape sacks and will move around to help his offensive line and receivers. Playing for a program of success like piedmont is rewarding for this kid, and he is equip to be a asset to any team that picks him up after this season.

Boyd has a combination of features in his gameplan, as he is a quick receiver who excels at generating separation, push off, and IQ. Boyd is an excellent route runner, because to his fast feet and rapid quickness with a lot of knowledege on his mechanics. His paths are silky smooth, with no wasted steps or rounded-off corners. He’s tough for defensive backs because he can plant his foot in the ground and burst out of cuts. That explosion translates into Boyd having a second gear and being dangerous with the ball in his hands. Boyd is a speedy route runner on short to midrange routes, so he’ll be a useful third-down weapon as a collegiate player, quickly uncovering and presenting an open target for his quarterback.Boyd spreads a defense over the top with his speed to run by defensive backs and is also a genuine deep-threat receiver. He can go a slant to the house or execute a go route and soar past defensive backs.

Quinton “QB” Reese
Quinton “QB” Reese
Reese is a quick pass-coverage linebacker who covers a lot of ground. He possesses the athleticism to stay up with running backs and tight ends, and he also contributed some slot receiver coverage. Reese is dependable and at comfortable in zone coverage, with the ability to rapidly pick up targets that run into his area. Reese is quick, agile, and adaptable when it comes to covering. Reese’s finest attribute is most likely his ability to pressure the quarterback. He is explosive off the edge and can cause difficulties for even the best left tackles. Reese closes down on the quarterback quickly, and when he does, he packs a powerful hit.Reese’s speed and athleticism allow him to dart past blockers or spin away from them. He also understands when to take off and pursue the quarterback. As an inside linebacker, Reese would scan the coverage and, if he saw he was free, he would charge after the quarterback. When facing a mobile, dual-threat quarterback, Reese will be a helpful linebacker as a quarterback spy. With his natural rush ability, he may be a true weapon as a designated pass rusher to deploy off the edge in obvious passing situations as a next level player.rn
