Here are some Wahlert athletes who stood out in this one:
Crahan shines on both sides of the ball for the Golden Eagles. He hauled in four passes for 77 yards in the first half of this game after leading them with six touchdown catches coming into the semifinals. He plays linebacker in Wahlert’s defense, where he could end up in college. He also might fit at slot or safety.
Matthew Bodnar
Matthew Bodnar
The arrow is pointing up for Bodnar following a super sophomore season. He also stands out on the wrestling mat as a strong athlete who uses leverage to excel in both sports. He already disrupts offenses up the middle with good technique and a fast motor. He should only get better with development.
Rudiger is a good athlete who puts it to good use at quarterback. It makes him projectable at multiple positions at the next level. At 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, he boasts the size that fits at receiver or the secondary in college. He threw for 13 touchdowns and ran for five more before the semifinals.
Highlights
Carter Brant
Carter Brant
You can see the makings of special player when watching Brant. At 6-foot-3, 210 pounds already, his frame has plenty of room for development and growth. He’s technically sound for a younger player, understanding leverage and the importance of hand placement. He displays good footwork and bend.
Brosius is a gamer who plays bigger than his frame thanks to a high motor and big heart. He’s fast and quick as evidenced by his 9.3 yards per carry coming into the UNI-Dome. He has good hands, which would allow him to play in the slot at the next level. He’s a good enough athlete to project in the secondary, too. All that said, he’ll play baseball at Iowa.
