Chandler Jones is the player that comes to mind when viewing this 5-Star recruits tape. Kamarion Franklin Kamarion Franklin 6'6" | 255 lbs | DL Lake Cormorant | 2024 State MS is a 2024 DL that totaled 19 sacks as Junior this season, breaking the record for sacks for his program. He also had over 45 QB pressures, and was as equally effective in the run game. Franklin has all of the intangibles you want in a Defensive Line recruit. He has the size at 6’5 260, the physicality is there, and he has the athleticism to make plays that he shouldn’t be able to. I was most impressed with how Kamarion can get after the passer at will. As a 2024 recruit, he understands the art of pass rushing; this usually does not happen as early for recruits with the size and mobility advantage that he has on his opponents. I have seen him beat offensive linemen with a variety of pass rush moves and his polished hand fighting technique. Franklin is surely everything that you want out of a DE/DL combo type of player. He will likely play on the interior or be the DE of a 3-4 type of defense at the next level. Once he fully develops athletically, I can see him easily splitting snaps between the two positions. You’ll hear the name Kamarion Franklin Kamarion Franklin 6'6" | 255 lbs | DL Lake Cormorant | 2024 State MS a lot more, soon, trust me!
Chasden Collins | 2023 WR | Stone HS | https://www.hudl.com/video/3/15072443/632c6ee69a9b7512448608ae
Chasden Collins is a talented athlete out of Stone HS that I would compare to Emmanuel Sanders. Specifically Emmanuel Sanders in the middle years of his career. Chasden is a wideout that simply needs space to operate and the ball to be effective. He can take any screen or short to intermediate route the distance. Collins is lightning quick in how fast he gets in and out of his cuts and into top gear. Once he gets to top speed then it is over for most defenders. This kid just flat out knows how to run away from people. He has reliable hands and a suprisingly large catch radius, similar to Emmanuel Sanders. Route Running isn’t his forte, but he is proficient enough in getting open to be a consistent threat out wide. He has taken snaps in the slot as well. This is where I would figure he would play on the next level, but he’s also lined up at quarterback and running back. Chasden’s has a compactly built solid frame, a strong core, and durable lower body. The combination of all of these factors paired with his deceptive speed attribute to this kids ability to run through arm tackles. He is a dual sport athlete, so I’m not sure which sport the 2023 prospect will use to further his academic/athletic careers. In my opinion he is more than capable of going on to play whichever of the two that he decides.
TJ Spann | 2024 DT | Clinton HS | http://www.hudl.com/v/2JQ08j
When initially watching TJ Spann’s tape, the first player that came to my mind was Vince Wilfork. I thought to myself that’s to easy, low hanging fruit really. With that being said, I dug a little deeper and did more searching to find exactly who this 2024 prospect reminded me off. Dexter Lawrence, former Clemson Tiger and now defensive tackle for the New York Giants, was who I ended up deciding on. Two factors that made this decision easy for me was the style of play and the build of both of these guys. TJ is slightly shorter, but he uses his size and strength similarly to Dexter, in order to get penetration and wreak havoc in the backfield. On film, he has thrown offensive linemen around like rag dolls just like Dexter. TJ has an exceptional get off and great hand usage at the point of attack. These two attributes are the most important to his game. Resetting the line of scrimmage is vital to the success of any defensive line and TJ Spann does this on a regular basis. His Junior season is only a precursor to what we will see from him in his senior campaign.
Javieon Butler Javieon Butler 6'5" | 210 lbs | WR Scott Central | 2023 State MS | 2023 WR/CB | Scott Central | https://www.hudl.com/video/3/15159914/632c8e939680f609e43229fa
Similar to the last comparison I made, I had a former NFL great in mind for this comparison and changed my mind at the last minute. The first comparison that came to mind when thinking of JJ was Randy Moss. After thinking on it and watching more film, I decided that JJ has a similar game to Randy Moss and build, but Butler is slightly, just slightly, less explosive than the generational talent in question. JJ Butler is more of a smooth and cerebral killer that just wears on your defense over the course of a game. Similar to one of the top 10 wide outs in the game today, Mike Evans. JJ is a do it all, 6’5 wide receiver that can run like a deer and has the catch radius of two men in one. His route running is crisp and void of any wasted movement, and he is like 7/11. The kid is always open. The 6’5 210 pound framed 2023 prospect clocked a sub-4.5 40 and it is easy tell from how he moves on the field. Now, he isn’t 4.2 fast like Randy Moss, but he can move similarly to how Moss used to being that big and moving that swiftly. If I had to, I would say that Butler is a combination of Randy Moss and Mike Evans. This is the first comparison I have done where I had to settle on a combination of NFL greats rather than settle for just 1. If you click the link above this and view his tape you’ll see exactly what I mean relaying these type of sentiments.
Jarvis Durr Jarvis Durr 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Brandon | 2023 State MS | 2023 RB | Brandon HS | https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12707577/634af29c96776f0ab832e159
Jarvis Durr Jarvis Durr 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Brandon | 2023 State MS is a 2023 running back prospect that any casual football fan would just enjoy watching run. He hits the hole with such fearlessness and ferocity. Jarvis’s legs carry him in a way that just seems to give the illusion that he is moving a different speed than every one else. It is no illusion though folks, he is. Have you ever seen an athlete that has elite speed get into the game and it seems like he is moving even faster with equipment on. I have, a former teammate of mine, Antonio Gibson of the Washington Commanders. That is exactly who Jarvis Durr Jarvis Durr 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Brandon | 2023 State MS reminded me of after studying his tape. They are built alike as well in terms of stature. AG and Jarvis are comparable in many ways when it comes to the type of backs they are. They both can run between the tackle, get to the edge to outrun defenders, and catch out of the backfield with ease. Also, they both often inflict a little pain by running behind their pads if need be. It is crazy that I decided to do a comparison on Mr.Durr and while viewing his film I said he hits the hole like AG. Then I look up his measurement’s and watch them side by side, and it was crazy how similar their games both were. The both are running backs with wide receiver capabilities when it come to athleticism. If you don’t take my word for it then watch them both play consecutively and tell me what you think.
