Review:
Another team that moved up from the 4A level and was supposed to struggle but instead finished third in the Foothills Division on their way to a state playoff birth. Middleton used its version of spread to balance opposing defenses out with a good mixture of run and pass. It helps when you have a star athlete at quarterback who is getting looks to play division one football regardless of position. A strong running game led by an up and coming junior who allowed Middleton to give defenses fits all year. Of course every year you are going to say goodbye to a really good group of seniors but this group set the foundation for how each team will be judged moving forward. Defensively this team was a strong unit who made teams work to beat them and really to the bend don’t break mentality to heart. Formidable at linebacker and strong in the front line but led by a really good defensive backfield that will be hard to replace moving forward. Middleton was able to keep up with some of the biggest programs in the state this year and if you watched them play nobody will be surprised if the are back near the top next year.
