Louisville vs Ripley
Last week both of these teams had some very easy opponents. Louisville beat Greenwood 35-0 to host Ripley at home. This team has a bunch of studs all over the field that plays ball. Kendon Sanders Kendon Sanders 5'9" | 200 lbs | LB Louisville | 2024 State MS plays linebacker for them and when they are in the redzone he is the guy they hand it to on offense for those hard extra yards. He is also very ferocious when he arrives to the party. Laterrius Haynes is another guy that will step up and make big plays for them next week. Everybody knows what Gabriel Moore Gabriel Moore 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Louisville | 2023 State MS brings to the game, but they have a lot of under the radar guys who do well. Corxavier Coleman is a sophomore that steps up and plays big. Last week Semaj Knowles stepped up and had a big guy as well as Kenneth Hill. When the playoffs hit these Wildcats know how to step up for the challenge.
On offense I have noticed a new face in Cam Triplett. He has stepped up big at receiver for them since Key Jackson has moved from receiver to quarterback. Triplett is a guy that helps stretch the field for the Wildcats. They are going to start every game with four receivers and he is one of them. He is just a sophomore.
Ripley is a team that likes to run the football. Quan McDonald is going to be getting the ball out of the backfield a lot for the Tigers. He is a good runner and the Wildcat defense will make sure that he is accounted for. Chad Martin and Jaylen Brooks are two more guys that will be able to move the ball on offense from the backfield. Ripley isn’t going to come into this game playing around. They are going to try to win this football game.
Mendenhall vs Columbia
This game could easily be an instant classic. These two teams are familiar with one another and their fan bases are going to be doing a lot of smack talking this week. Whoever wins this game will be one of the favorites to be the 4A South Half State Champ. Anson Lewis Jr is just a sophomore and he is the guy that that Mendenhall defenders will have their eyes on. He knows how to get open and he knows how to make big plays. He is a lot for their team to worry about.
Mendenhall is going to be riding off good defense. Tyree Bridges is a load at linebacker and he has some more guys who know how to line up and play with him. He is a very aggressive linebacker who loves to stick his nose up the middle. He knows how to read. Mendenhall’s team is going to have to stop a balanced offense to be victorious. Columbia isn’t going to be a one trick pony.
