This was a straight up dog fight. Neither team was allowing many yards during this game. The results of this game didn't matter. So both teams were just laying it all on the line.

First quarter

Starkville started this game off with the first points. [player_tooltip player_id='273258' first='Trey' last='Petty'] found Jenkins in the back corner of the endzone for six. Grenada did not manage to put up any points in the first quarter. They saw themselves in the redzone a lot in the first quarter. They would feed on that later.

Second quarter

The second quarter the Chargers would find their way in the endzone. Macaleb Taylor ran it in from around the three yard line. He was phenomenal this whole game. At times they even ran him as the wildcat quarterback.

Third quarter

Both teams came ready to play after halftime. Macaleb Taylor would find his way in the endzone again for six points. Their defense is very good. I have to mention that again, because both teams went a long time without scoring after this score. Both teams were not giving up many yards tonight.

Fourth quarter

In the 4th quarter Petty threw two more touchdowns that got his team over the hump. [player_tooltip player_id='139597' first='Braylon' last='Burnside'] caught the two point conversion to give them a 21-13 lead. This game showed Starkville they have to get some things together before the playoffs. They are going to want to tighten up a few things before they head into this playoffs.

Overall Game Summary

It was a very great game. I'm glad we saw both teams compete today. We were able to see what Grenada has ready for next season. They are losing [player_tooltip player_id='340863' first='Jalon' last='Townes'] and [player_tooltip player_id='340859' first='Tre' last='Parker']. Two big time guys on their defense. It will be interesting to see who can step up and fill those shoes. Aaron Travis is returning next year. He is a big boy, but has some mechanics to work on. The more he trains the better he will be.

Starkville has Southaven next week. They have the team to compete, but need to stay disciplined. They had a lot of penalties last night and need to clean that up. Looking forward to seeing them in the playoffs.
