I hope you enjoy this edition of the class of 2023 film review. Many seniors have committed but still more are continuing their search for a home for the next 4 to 5 years.
Sam Koopmeiners Sam Koopmeiners 6'7" | 215 lbs | TE Cretin-Derham Hall | 2023 State MN – (Cretin Derham Hall). 6’7 220Lbs. C/o 2023. @SamKoop30
I love the first clip of the film because as a scout my first question when I see a frame like this is how does he run. Clip one shows you that Sam runs very well, particularly on vertical routes. There is still work to be done getting in and out of breaks, but as far as straight line he is very smooth. He shows that he is a hands catcher who doesn’t fight the ball which is very important for the tight end position. You can see that CDH isn’t afraid to find ways to get him the ball as he runs a variety of routes including bubbles and shovel passes all displaying a diversity in his abilities. There is a lot of fundamental growth that needs to happen in his blocking and this will be an area of focus for him to become a complete tight end.
Erik Anda- (Coon Rapids High School). 5’10 200Lbs. C/o 2023. @erikanda_
What I like most about Erik is his ability to trigger and go. Once he see’s what is going on in a play and makes a decision he doesn’t break stride until he gets to the ball. This is a very important trait in a linebacker, he isn’t trying to feel his way thru traffic, he understands where he needs to get and he is physical when he arrives at the ball. He does a decent job in block destruction and can keep developing in the use of his hands. He understands angles, particularly in lateral runs and is able to make tackles outside the hashes because of this. He presents as a very good box linebacker who will make the oppositions inside run game a tough sell.
Noah Rychlick Noah Rychlick 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB Wayzata | 2023 MN – (Wayzata High School). 6’2 210Lbs. C/o 2023. @NoahRychlick
Noah is listed as an outside linebacker but as in many modern 3-4 defenses he is very much a defensive end who also drops at times. I love the first clip because to be a good pass rusher you have to be able to play with great bend and he shows that ability. As the film goes on he gets more and more impressive. He knows how to use is hands both in the pass rush and when maintaining a gap in his run fits. He plays with good pursuit and is able to effect the game in both the pass and run. Whether it is quarterback sacks or pressures, holding the edge on run game, chasing a play from the backside or contributing on special teams Noah is an excellent defensive athlete.
Parker Durkin Parker Durkin 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Edina | 2023 State MN – (Edina High School). 6’2 210Lbs. C/o 2023. @DurkinParker
As a wide receiver with good length Parker runs very well, he has very nice straight line speed. The quick screen game that Edina runs gives you a look at his lateral quickness as well which adds to his positional versatility for a college offense. If you add to that he isn’t an easy tackle as he fights for extra yards and now you have an offensive weapon that many teams would be happy to have. I also love the few clips he has in the blocking game. As a PSA to high school WR’s putting a handful of good blocking clips into your film is not a bad idea. Your effort when blocking tells me a lot about what type of teammate you will be at the next level.
Ot Omot Ot Omot 6'4" | 165 lbs | WR Park of Cottage Grove | 2023 State MN – (Park High School). 6’5 C/o 2023. @otenidi_omot
When you are a 6’5 wide receiver evaluators will want to see is if you play as big as you are listed. While there is room for growth on Ot’s high point skills he certainly shows enough to be a match up nightmare. Most of his damage is done on posts and goes where Park uses his size advantage against overmatched corners effectively. The second thing I want to see is what type of quickness that player has, often times the long striders can do great things until someone comes up and presses them in man to man. There is enough quickness displayed on film particularly on his releases to show me he isn’t a one trick pony. Ot is a matchup nightmare that will be a big get as an outside wide receiver at the next level.
