Nevertheless, their accomplishments have still been very impressive, and the teams they have defeated have not been any less challenging, or talented. Below, take a look at 4A Football’s Final 4, as they earned their right to play in the semi-finals, and we will see who the two best teams are when it is all said and done.
Cedartown
Out of all of the 4A teams, Cedartown has done a good job of separating themselves from the other teams in the state. Including their playoff wins, Cedartown currently sits with a 13-0 record, and a total of 531 points scored this season, to just 108 allowed. Last week, they barely skirted past Bainbridge, but came away with a 26-21 win against them. In this game, the RB’s carried the load, as Xavier Hargrove rushed for 135 yards, and a TD, Patrick Garner ran for 112 yards and a TD, and Harlem Diamond Harlem Diamond 5'9" | 175 lbs | ATH Cedartown | 2023 State GA ran for 146 yards and 2 TD’s. Defensively, the team accounted for a total of 46 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 caused fumbles, and an interception. If the team can keep it up with this kind of production, opponents will have a lot to keep up with.
North Oconee
Just like Cedartown, North Oconee has also played at a very high level this season, as they have racked up a 13-0 record, while scoring a total of 574 points this year, and only allowing 79 points. Their playoff run has proven their dominance, as they have not allowed more than 12 points in each of their 3 playoff games. In fact, the team that scored the most points against them was Wayne County, who scored 12 against them last week. This is due to a strong defense, and as they enter into the next round, it will be key to look out for players such as Jack Fabris Jack Fabris 6'1" | 200 lbs | DB North Oconee | 2023 State GA , and Khalil Barnes Khalil Barnes 5'11" | 175 lbs | WR North Oconee | 2023 State GA , as they have had a great season so far.
Troup County
This season, Troup County has seen their fair share of success. While they have scored around 541 points this year, they have also allowed a large amount of points. In total, they have allowed 247 points. As a result of this kind of defensive play, they have also played in very close playoff matchups, in which each of their 3 playoff games have been within 10 point margins. Nevertheless, they have still found ways to win. Specifically, last week they won by executing all across the board. Offensively, they passed for a total of 274 yards, and ran for around 200 yards. Players that stood out, and who will likely stand out moving forward include the likes of Logan Sinkfiled, Maliki Poythress, Taeo Todd Taeo Todd 5'9" | 175 lbs | QB Troup County | 2024 State GA , and Javari Fannin.
Benedictine
Going into Benedictine’s matchup against Troup County this week, they will certainly have to be on their P’s and Q’s. Defensively, they will need to continue to limit scoring, just as they have done so far in the playoffs, and offensively, they will want to score consistently to combat the potentially strong offense they may witness on the other sideline. A good game from Kromenhoek, Bryan, Edwards, Samuel, and Blackshear can help push Benedictine in the direction they want to move in, regardless of how their defense performs. Nevertheless, this matchup will be fun to watch, and we look forward to seeing who advances out of this bracket.
