Donelson is a dynamic athlete with a great combination of size, speed, and power as a ball carrier. At 6’0” 205 lbs. he possesses a well-built and strong frame. He’s explosive with the ball in his hands, pressing the line quickly, breaking first contact, and accelerating through the second level. He’s got great short area burst and breakaway speed in space with the leverage and contact balance to also run through defenders. A savvy route runner that is a natural pass catcher out of the backfield. Transferred from El Diamante to Central Valley Christian where he made an immediate impact rushing for over 500 yards and nine touchdowns on 38 carries in just three games. Holds offers from San Jose State, New Mexico, and Fresno State but expect him to climb rankings and recruiting boards as the cycle progresses.
Whitten is an active defender with great versatility to be effective from multiple positions in the secondary. He’s got great anticipation and reactionary quickness to read, react, and break on the ball. Smooth and fluid in the hips he can transition and accelerate out to quickly close space and make a play at the catch point. Speed gives him good range and allows him to sustain and cover the whole field. Physical both in coverage and in run support, initiates contact and is a heavy striker at the POA. Well coached, he’s got good technique/footwork and is very efficient with his movement and reads. First offered by Cal after a strong performance at the Sac State camp in June and recently pulled in an offer from Colorado after an unofficial visit.
Highlights
Sims is an explosive athlete with the ability to be a game breaker in all three phases. He shows good fluidity and body control in addition to his all-around speed and lateral quickness. Homerun threat as a RB, WR, or returner using his top end speed and elusiveness in the open field. Love his suddenness and short area burst as a ball carrier to make quick lateral cuts around defenders. Plus vision and awareness to find space and see angles to create open running lanes for himself. Impressive statistical 2022 season with 1,032 all-purpose yards, 10 touchdowns, and 51 tackles, five interceptions, and 10 PBU’s. No offers to date but he’s a sleeper that is deserving of more recruiting attention given his talent, ability, and potential.
A lot to like about Higgins physical skillset and natural playmaking ability. He’s got good size, length, and growth potential at 6’0” 180 lbs. In the secondary, he’s a very instinctual player that possesses great awareness and feel for the game. Excellent eye discipline and key/play diagnosis. He plays fast and physical being a violent finisher at the POA but can also break down to be a reliable one on one open field tackler. Flashes good closing speed, quick feet, and smooth hips to break out of his back pedal and change directions in coverage. His well-rounded skillset could transition well to multiple positions on both sides of the ball at the college level. Already holds offers from San Jose State and Campbell but expect more on the way.
Owens is a gifted athlete and big play threat every time touches the ball. Possesses top tier speed to stretch the field vertically as a deep threat or attack the defense at the short/intermediate levels and make explosive plays after the catch. Shows good initial quickness and short area burst off the LOS and in his drive phase to break cushion and run by coverage. A plus route runner that sets up his routes well and mixes up speeds to create separation. Strong ball skills he’s a natural pass catcher that uses his coordination and body control to track and adjust to ball flight in the air. Extremely efficient with his touches he led the Sac-Joaquin section in receiving with 1,240 yards on just 47 catches averaging 26.4 yards per reception while scoring 21 touchdowns. Currently holds an offer from Portland State.
