2023 Potential Rankings Newcomers: Defense Part. II

Here is Part II in this series where we will dive into some possible new additions to our Idaho PRZ 2023 Rankings on the defensive side of the ball. The defense in this class is very defensive line and linebacker heavy, with some sure fire next level prospects flying under the radar. Below are some potential candidates that will crack our newest rankings that will be coming out early next month. Part I of this II part series can be found <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2022/11/2023-potential-rankings-newcomers-defense-part-i/">HERE!</a>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide"/>   DL [player_tooltip player_id='485721' first='Jackson' last='Geslin'], Century HS   Greslin is a very disruptive interior defensive lineman that can play multiple positions along the defensive front. He plays with good leverage, strong inside hands and creates immediate inside hand placement in the run game while also twitchy in pass rush situations. He put together a nice Senior season and is a candidate to crack our updated rankings.   LB [player_tooltip player_id='485728' first='Rory' last='Leavitt'], Thunder Ridge HS   Leavitt is one of the most under-rated players across all of Idaho and has legit abilities to play at the FCS level at inside linebacker. He is a very athletic plug in the middle of the TR defense and reads plays quickly, runs through contact while very active in the open field and makes plays sideline to sideline. Flashing closing speed and taking good angles in the open field, he is also a violent blitzer up the middle and can pass rush off the edge with bend and active hands.   SS/LB [player_tooltip player_id='336893' first='Coltin' last='Lyda'], Idaho Falls HS   Lyda is a big and physical hybrid safety/outside linebacker at the next level. He offers good length in a frame they can pack on more weight and is very fluid in space with cover abilities while not afraid to drop down and bang in the box. He can get off blocks, set the edge and displays open field speed and athleticism with the ball in his hands on the offensive side of the ball. Having a very strong season this year going both ways for Idaho Falls, he has positioned himself nicely to crack the updated 2023 rankings.   DL [player_tooltip player_id='485686' first='Bryce' last='Mundy'], Mountain View HS   Mundy is one of the better defensive lineman across Idaho and can without a doubt play at the next level. He is stout against the run, locking out blockers quickly and establishing the LOS while able to shed violently and athletic enough to two-gap when needed. He plays with a strong lower half and base while winning with power rush moves when collapsing the pocket. Overall, a very solid and balanced style of play, Mundy should gain traction in the coming months.   Other Potential Candidates...
