Christopher Riley
Christopher Riley
Christopher Riley earns the right for his name to be in this conversation due to his contributions in every way. Riley gained over 1,300 yards passing and another 1,ooo + yards rushing this season. In each game Christopher was responsible for over 235 yards of offense. He averaged over 10 yards per carry and over 15 yards per pass. In addition to all those yards Riley has a total of 17 touchdowns in 10 games. Furthermore, Riley has 2 sacks, 60 tackles, and interception and he kicks punts and field goals for the Salem Wildcats. This is a kid that never comes off the field and gives 100% effort on every play. What is even more impressive is that Christopher Riley is only a Sophomore. This is why Riley is in the running for MVP of 1A.
Laza Beavers
Laza Beavers
Laza Beavers is another Sophomore in the running for MVP due to his contributions in the pocket. This year Beavers has been slinging the football up and down the field at will. He has been developing as a QB immensely fast which is what makes him as effective as he is. Laza threw for over 2,200 yards and 17 TDs for the year showing his capability to pick apart defenses. Beavers does have the ability to get out of the pocket but instead quickly finds his checkdown for positive yardage. He is an athlete that is certain to improve throughout the season and continue to make a name for himself. His abilities so far have led his team to an impressive 9-4 season. Laza Beaver’s arm talent is what makes him a 1A MVP candidate.
Ethan Wright
Ethan Wright
Ethan Wright was on a roster that finished 4-7 for the season but nevertheless he was a bright spot for the panthers. Ethan could be seen on both sides of the ball making big time plays on every snap. On defense Wright had an immense 148 tackles while on offense he was just as productive. He threw for over 1,200 yards while rushing for 1,00 yards as well. He threw for 18 Touchdowns and ran for another 16 for a total of 34 TDs for the year. Ethan is a senior this year and certainly contributed immensely to his team. Disregard the record because Ethan Wright is an athlete. John Franklin-Myers, Defensive End for the New York Jets was on an underperforming High School team in Texas but still did the best he could despite his circumstances. Because of Ethan’s performance this year despite his team’s record he is deserving of being a 1A MVP candidate.
