Continue ReadingWestern Pennsylvania is a region that’s rich with football talent yearly. The transfer portal has altered recruiting for high school prospects in terms of visibility. Due to the abundance of eligible recruits, some high school athletes have become recruiting collateral damage. I’m going to be highlighting some of the underrated or unheralded prospects around western pa in the 2023 & 2024 classes. These recruits spotlighted are either uncommitted or haven’t been offered altogether in a lot of cases. These gems will be introduced in a series of articles to adequately spotlight their abilities.
Kent’s latest offer came by way of FCS St.Francis on 10/22/22. Dayton has also offered the senior Linebacker. McMahon is a hard-thumping, aggressive, physical Linebacker for Head coach Mike Evans. He’s a sure open-field tackler that displays good form & leverage. McMahon’s a smart player whose play recognition is sharp. The 23′ LB goes hard every play causing explosive hits & collisions consistently. Kent’s bulk & speed is adequate for the position collegiately at 6’2 215 lbs. He’s a good Blitzer that’s active in general. McMahon’s pass drops into zone coverage show his fluid mobility. Canon Mac’s veteran LB will be a valuable contributor on special teams on the next level.Â
Sincere has good speed mixed with college size at 6’1 175 lbs. He’s fielded scholarship offers from D2 Fayetteville State, Bluefield State & Notre Dame College. His production matches his potential catching 27 passes for 810 yards & 14 touchdowns thus far. The city League all-star runs good routes & swiftly gets in and out of his breaks. Sincere has adequate hands mixed with strength & balance. Smith has good body control & consistently breaks tackles getting YAC. He’s Westinghouse’s top deep threat that stretches secondaries with his speed. Smith possesses the ability to be a good college returner.Â
Harper has some FCS & D2 interest at the QB position. Nate has a strong arm & good throwing mechanics. The senior prospect is an accurate passer that can fit passes into small windows. He reads defenses well & doesn’t lock in on targets. Nate completes difficult throws with power & touch. The Avonworth signal caller throws 50/50 passes with precision. Colleges concerned with his height should know that Harper is mobile & throws well on the run. He has good overall mechanics & is a leader.Â
Noah Livesay
Noah Livesay
In recruiting, Noah is getting FCS & D2 interests so far. He’s a nasty, mobile, O-lineman that finishes plays. I believe Livesay has the potential to be a good Center and or Offensive Guard. He is athletic & moves well for his size. Noah’s agile enough to get blocks on LBs on the second level. Livesay’s particularly proficient at pass protecting, combo & down-blocking. You can see on film that Noah is still developing & getting better with every rep.Â
He’s amassed 1,335 yds on 97 carries and scored 24 touchdowns. The 2023 prospect averages 13.9 yards per carry at RB. Bret’s a speedy, smooth athlete, that’s also capable of playing DB collegiately. The senior prospect has athletic ability mixed with stop-and-go speed. Fitzsimmons has been on FCS & D2 program’s radar primarily in recent months.Â
