Continue ReadingEntering into Week 8 of the high school football season, plenty of teams have continued to shine, and others have done so well that they have begun to separate their names from the rest. So far this season, the teams below have all been some of the most consistent, and successful teams in the state, and have proven to be at a high/strong level compared to the rest of the competition. Below, if you take some time to dive into these teams, we doubt that you will be disappointed to see how they have done so far.
Mill Creek
Without a doubt, Mill Creek has been the most dominant team in all of 7A football throughout the state of Georgia this year. To start, not only does the team have a total of over 1,000 passing yards so far this season, but they also have 8 TD’s, to 0 interceptions. To add to this, when running the ball, they have also been stellar, as they have had a total of 969 yards on the ground, and 18 rushing TD’s. All of this, and some of the most impressive aspects of their game have been on the defensive side of the ball, as they have had a total of 350 tackles this year, with 25 of them being for a loss. In addition to this, they have also had a total of 14 sacks, 7 interceptions, and 29 QB hurries. Because of this well rounded success for the hawks, which is well above the national average in plenty of categories, we firmly believe that they will continue to trend upwards, and will have one of the better seasons that they have had in years.
Buford
After just 6 games, Buford has continued to cement themselves as one of the top teams in the entire state, regardless of region, or division of play. So far, they have racked up a 6-0 record, with a 1-0 streak in their particular region of play. Some of their top performers to this point of the season have been

. They have not only been key to their offense’s success, but they have also sparked plenty of TD’s, and points for their team. In addition to this, on the defensive side of the ball, players such as Bryson Banks, and Bryce Perry-Wright have all stepped up. They each, respectively, lead in sacks, and tackles per game, and have been a huge reason for their team’s defensive dominance. As the season progresses, look for Buford to continue to dominate their competition, making it hard for future opponents to want to step on the field with them.
Colquitt County
Through 7 games, Colquitt County has also put in their bid as one of the best, and most dominant teams in the entire state. While they have not played any regional games yet, each of their match-ups have spoken loudly to their potential, and their current ability to manhandle teams on both sides of the ball. Currently, Colquitt County has seen offensive success through some of their leaders such as Nicholas Pace,

has also got into the action this year, leading his offense with efficiency, and solid game management. As the rest of their season starts to wind down, some of their success will be interesting. The next few weeks, they have to line up against the likes of Camden County, Lowndes, Valdosta, and Richmond Hill.
North Cobb
Even though North Cobb does not have an undefeated record like some of the teams above, their 4-2 record comes with a strong 4 wins. So far, they not only have a 1-0 record in their region, but their 4 wins came from teams such as Westlake, Marietta, Milton, and Walton. To their credit as well, each loss they have had has come from a close margin, such as their 21-14 loss to Buford, and their 20-17 OT loss to North Side. Nevertheless, their have been plenty of players who have stepped up for their team, such as Sydney Grimstead,

, Jordan Lonas, Tony Perkins, Sydney Grimstead, and Sean Wilkinson. As the season begins to wind down, look for North Cobb to continue to find ways to progress, and to play more complete football, especially in the second half of games.
Carrollton
Just like plenty of other teams on this list, Carrollton has also had a high rate of success this year, as they finished the season 7-0, with a 1-0 record in their region. Standout players such as

, and Brodie Bradburn have both had high levels of defensive production. Moving into the rest of the year, we would like to see Carrollton continue to step up, and make a name for themselves among some of the bigger, more popular teams in the state.
