I am listing the players who’s stat line stood out, who people recommended but most importantly, ONLY players who either I watched live or was able to watch highlights from their specific game. For the best chance to be featured, send me your weekly film on twitter. My handle is “@DevinRecord”, please don’t have any hard feelings if you weren’t included.
Jeremiah Wright
Jeremiah Wright
I put Jeremiah as an ATH because he excels on the defensive line as well as being the teams quarterback on offense. Wright won the starting job before the season started and he is showing why the coaching staff made the correct choice. He is extremely hard to take down, given his 6’6″ frame. To me, he might just be the most athletic player in the entire Northwest Conference. In a MASSIVE game against Nooksack Valley HS, Wright threw for roughly 115 yards with 2 touchdowns through the air. One thing the junior does well is utilize his feet. He also had about 50 yards rushing and a touchdown on the ground. The Lyncs are getting ready to start their end of season run, with Wright being a huge part of that.
Diezel is listed as a running back, one of the best in the state in fact. But with how East Valley runs their offense, he lines up as a quarterback and takes the snaps a lot of the time, which is why he will be included in this article. During the teams week 6 victory over North Central HS, Diezel did it all for the team. He did what he usually does with his feet, rushing for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns, which is normal for him. He’s so fast with the ball in his hands, it’s very exciting to watch. He evades a lot of tackles, using his agility to dodge defenders. He also contributed through the air, passing for 122 yards and 2 touchdowns. He’s going to continue to wreck havoc on defenses.
River is one of the best quarterbacks in the state and his play on the field this season for Glacier Peak has proven that. He’s a natural leader on the field, helping him have great connections with all his teammates. Against Kamiak HS, Lien was nearly perfect on the night. Everything was clicking for him and his offensive targets. River finished the day 19/20 for 3134 yards and 4 touchdowns. He made throws that not many quarterbacks can make, launching the ball EXTREMELY far but hitting his receivers right on target.
Chance is a stud starting quarterback. He’s one of the top 2023 quarterbacks for a good reason. Week 6 against Bishop Blanchet HS, Guadiz completed 15/23 passes for 278 yards and 5 touchdowns in the air. His arm strength stands out to me, as he can let it FLY! He has a quick release, being able to drop just a few steps and have it go at least 30 yards through the air. He has a great build so he’s able to take hits, if needed. His accuracy on deep passes is excellent, as he can place it over his receivers shoulder with ease.
Highlights
Boen Phelps
Boen Phelps
Boen is another quarterback within the state who’s EXTREMELY athletic and great with his legs on the football field. Boen makes plays on both sides of the ball, playing safety and being all over the field on the defensive side too. Besides being very agile and being able to evade tacklers with ease, he’s very solid through the air with his arm too. He hits receivers on the run consistently, leading to big gains. He slings the ball accurately deep but also has the arm strength to get the ball deep down the field. Phelps is also a rare quarterback who enjoys contact and wants to be hit, which I love about his game.
