I am listing the players who’s stat line stood out, who people recommended but most importantly, ONLY players who either I watched live or was able to watch highlights from their specific game. For the best chance to be featured, send me your weekly film on twitter. My handle is “@DevinRecord”, please don’t have any hard feelings if you weren’t included.
Kahiel Brown
Kahiel Brown
Kahiel is a player who has had a fantastic last couple weeks. He’s been hitting his stride, playing some of his best football so far this year. He reads the quarterback well, being able to anticipate some passes before they come his way. Against Lake Stevens, he showed off his speed on the field by running down a ball carrier from behind, starting maybe 10 yards behind him.
Bryson played great in a big week 6 game against Garfield HS. The whole Eastside Catholic defense has been playing very well all season long. Ross contributed 3 tackles and 1 pass deflection on the night. There’s a ton of talent all across this defense, but Ross will have a great ending to this year and a big senior year next year.

I’ve included this Black Hills defensive back in a previous article for this series. He continued to read the field well and get to the ball carrier quickly. His tackling still stands out to me on the field as his technique is very solid. His junior year has been a great one on both sides of the ball and he will continue to grow his game next season as well.
Elijah is one of the top players in the class of 2023 in the state, ranking 29th in the PrepRedZone rankings. He’s a stellar defensive back, having some fantastic patience. He reads the play well, being able to cut off the pass easily with his speed. He gets to the ball carrier quickly, being able to wrap up nicely too.
Zion is another top player in the entire class of 2023 within the state of Washington. Spannaway Lake has been playing extremely solid throughout the year as a defensive back. He stays with the receiver well, being able to stop on a dime if the player he is guarding does as well. He reads the quarterback well and has great catching ability for a defensive back, which he showed off with a great pick against Silas HS week 6.
