I am listing the players who’s stat line stood out, who people recommended but most importantly, ONLY players who either I watched live or was able to watch highlights from their specific game. For the best chance to be featured, send me your weekly film on twitter. My handle is “@DevinRecord”, please don’t have any hard feelings if you weren’t included.
Ian Mohl
Ian Mohl
Ian is one of the most underrated running backs in the state. He has great vision on the field, finding the open spots in the open field easily. He gets to the outside very well, showing off his speed in the process. Mohl is a complete workhorse, rushing the ball 29 times, gaining 224 yards and a touchdown on the night against Richland HS. He uses contact to his advantage, gaining a couple yards by lowering his shoulder. His offensive line played outstanding too, helping him have gigantic holes to rush through.

Reylen is only a freshman, in fact he’s the first freshman running back I’ve included. His play on the field so far, despite not playing the first couple weeks, has been very impressive. He’s extremely fast with the football in his hands and has some of the best agility for any underclassman. He sees the field outstandingly, knowing his next move in advance and getting through the first level easily. As he gains more playing time, his name will start to be known more around the state, if it isn’t already.
Benny Brudnak
Benny Brudnak
Benny has great size standing at 6’1″ and having a strong frame. He runs the ball with authority, attacking the open holes. He has good speed, being able to separate himself from trailing defenders in the open field. Against Sultan HS, he ran for two touchdowns, one being a long run for the senior. He was able to burst through the defensive line quite easily all night long, getting quite a few runs for over 10 yards. He’s another underrated running back in the state who deserves more attention.
Emmit Otero
Emmit Otero
I’ve mentioned a couple offensive lineman and other players for Enumclaw, now it’s time to highlight the running back for the team. Otero had three touchdowns against Fife HS, a lot of that thanks to his solid offensive line giving him holes to run through. The senior is quick on his feet, easily avoiding tacklers. He catches the ball out of the backfield well, sometimes leading to big gins when he has the open field to work with. He’s a running back to keep an eye on as the season progresses.
Tommy Funk
Tommy Funk
During Sehome’s week 4 game against Burlington-Edison, the team relied on their offensive line and senior running back to carry the team to victory. Funk delivered on that by rushing for 178 yards and 3 touchdowns on 20 carries. Funk enjoys contact on the football field, embracing tacklers as they come towards him. He shows off his strength by running over defenders throughout the game. With freshman at quarterback, don’t be surprised if the Mariners rely more on Funk as he gets into his rhythm.
