Last week, they defeated Benedictine 48-0. This season, they have averaged 39.4 points per game on offense and have given up 13 points per game on defense. The Eagles are ranked 2nd and are currently 8-1. Last week, they defeated Moeller 6-0. This season, they have averaged 27.7 points per game on offense and have given up 12.7 points per game on defense. There are several talented players on both teams and here are five players to keep an eye on during the game.
Eli plays as a MLB. Against the run, he stacks OL at the point of attack before shedding the block. He plays with good leverage and shows good form tackling ability as he makes the tackle quickly. Against the pass, he quickly keys and diagnoses the play and locates the ball. He shows very good closing speed in pursuit before making the tackle on the WR preventing a gain of significant yardage.
Micah plays as a safety. Against the pass, he uses his good play speed to stay in phase with slot WR. he does a good job of tracking the ball in the air before showing good hands as he makes the interception. Against the run, he shows very good range and instincts as he takes the correct angle in pursuit while playing sideline to sideline. He plays with good leverage and delivers a big hit preventing a potential first down.
Will plays as a RT. In pass pro, he plays with a good, wide base and keeps his feet moving. He displays good play strength and hand use as he negates the progress of the DE giving the QB a clean pocket to operate from. When run blocking, he generates movement at the point of attack with his good leverage, play strength and hand use. He successfully drives the DE several yards off the ball and creates a big hole for the RB to run through.
Troy plays as a DT. Against the pass, he uses hid good play strength and use of hands to bullrush the OG before shedding the block. He shows good play speed in pursuit before finishing up with a sack. Against the run, he fires out low and effectively uses his good play strength and use of hands to stack the OG at the point of attack and shed the block. He quickly locates the RB before delivering a nice form tackle behind the LOS for a TFL.
Kyan plays as a slot WR. He is a good route runner who shows good hip fluidity as he breaks off his stem at a 45 degree angle on a slant route. He displays very good hands as he makes the catch with his hands away from his body. After the catch is made, he displays very good play speed and athletic ability to outrun DB and LB for a big gain. He shows good mental toughness in the red zone as he scores touchdowns with ease.
