Continue ReadingHighlands is a perfect 6-0 thus far in 2022 & don’t show any signs of slowing down. The Golden Rams have fought through adversity & continue to improve with every contest. Woody High started the season on a high defeating William Penn York , but have since loss some matchups. The Wolverines are 3-3 overall and should be motivated after suffering a 28-21 defeat to Shaler HS. The Golden Rams have arrived into week 7 undefeated behind leaders such as DL Daniel Long, ATH Aaran Randolph, RB/LB Luke Bombalski Luke Bombalski 5'10" | LB Highlands | 2024 State PA , and QB/LB Chandler Thimons Chandler Thimons 6'4" | 225 lbs | QB Highlands | 2023 State PA . Woodland Hills has had to rely on underclassmen most of the season & this game will be no different. The heavy lifting for Woody High vs Highlands will come from QB Cameron Walter Cameron Walter 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Woodland Hills | 2026 State PA , OL Kellen McDonough Kellen McDonough 6'5" | 260 lbs | OL Woodland Hills | 2023 State PA , WR/DB Amere Brown Amere Brown 5'9" | 155 lbs | ATH Woodland Hills | 2025 State PA , and FBS Lineman Me’Juan Rose to name a couple.
Long is a D1 caliber player who’s fielded offers from FCS Presbyterian, Sacred Heart & Division 2 Cal Pa to name a few. He’s explosive out of stance & gets off the ball fast. Daniel is quick and knows how to use his hands & feet in unison creating rush moves. The senior prospect uses his hands well & they’re violent. His athleticism is evident on a pick 6 play on film where he returned it for a score. Long is powerful hitting & he plays in the backfield causing several TFLs. He showed his versatility lining up in the interior D Line as well as D End. Long plays relentlessly whether he’s pursuing the ball or rushing the QB. His offer list should continue to grow because I believe Daniel has the capability to play FBS football.
Chandler is a big prospect with a lot of game experience on a successful team. He’s very athletic & mobile for being 6’4 225 pounds. Chandler had 128 attempts for 800 plus yards rushing his junior season showcasing his agility. At QB he throws well on the run & distributes the ball to his playmakers. At LB he has a good IQ & he’s good a beating blocks with athleticism. His motor is good and he moves well laterally when he tempos the ball carrier. I believe Thimons would be a perfect TE convert in college. At TE or Hback Thimons is athletic enough to flex out & run routes effectively. As far as physicality, Chandler is presently a LB & is tough enough to block at TE or Hback.
Aaran Randolph
Aaran Randolph
Randolph is a D1 caliber player but has only been shown interest by D2 programs so far.Aaran is a utility player for Highlands that oozes athletic versatility. I like him at DB the most although he’s capable of being a WR. He’s quick twitched & dynamic with the ball in his hands. The Junior athlete has great hips & speed that allows him to ball hawk in the middle of the field. Randolph is willing tackler that also has a great break on the football.
Luke plays LB & RB but I like him as a MLB on the collegiate level. His agility running the football aids him well at LB. He’s explosive and recognizes plays quickly often causing TFLs. He plays with tremendous effort and is extremely relentless pursuing the football. Bombalski is also a great blitzer that ignores the first blocker & gets pressure. Luke is violent engaging and disengaging blockers in pursuit. The 2024 prospect is strong & has no problem shedding linemen blocks coming to get him on the second level.
Cameron is a 3 sport athlete that is poised beyond his years. The freshman QB has D1 characteristics & has been drawing interest from power 5 Penn State most recently. He possesses a strong arm & good mobility in the pocket. Cam is a decent athlete that doesn’t lock in on targets going through his progressions. Walter keeps his eyes downfield when he’s evading pressure scrambling. The 26′ prospect distributes the ball well to all of his weapons.
Brandon is a tough gritty back that fights for every yard. He’s been establishing himself as the top back for Woodland Hills this season. Last week he rushed for 106 yards & a score in a close loss to Shaler. Both of Highlands Linebackers that Jones will matchup against ( Chandler Thimons Chandler Thimons 6’4″ | 225 lbs | QB Highlands | 2023 State PA & Luke Bombalski Luke Bombalski 5’10” | LB Highlands | 2024 State PA ) tackle in space & pursue well. Jones doesn’t currently have any scholarship offers.
Scoop is a 2 sport star that picked up a D1 basketball offer this past summer. If Smith continues to develop at WR he will also receive football offers. The freshman WR is fast & explosive. Scoop has good body control & extreme lateral quickness. He’s a playmaker that is developing quickly with experience. Smith possesses short area quickness mixed with strength & speed.
The D1 product has been asserting himself this season. He’s strong & dominant blocking on the Offensive Line. He’s a great puller that’s been pancaking DL man blocking as well. Kellen displays his athleticism getting out in front on screens & pulling on power runs. Kellen is uncommitted with offers from Navy, RMU & Duquense. Recently Kent State has ramped up it’s recruiting efforts for McDonagh.
Amere is also a 2 sport start with a Division 1 Bball scholarship offer from Bryant. The 25′ sophomore is putting himself in position to be a FBS/FCS recruit in no time. Brown has speed & body control & 2 full years left in high school. Amere possesses speed, ball skills and sharp DB footwork. He’s a playmaker that’s been establishing himself as a kick returner & receiver to go with his impressive CB play all season long.
Pierce Cannon
Pierce Cannon
Cannon is yet another FBS major college lineman recruit. I haven’t seen any updated film on Pierce but he’s possesses power 5 capabilities. The big body recruit has long arms & great mobility for a prospect of his size. Cannon will do his best clearing running lanes for RBs Brandon Jones Brandon Jones 5’6″ | 165 lbs | RB Woodland Hills | 2024 State PA & Elijah Nesby vs undefeated Highlands.
