This past Friday two of the best programs in Indiana went head to head for all the bragging rights along with the conference title. 8-0 Brownsburg headed to 8-0 Hamilton Southeastern for the big matchup. The game more than lived up to they hype and HSE squeaked out a 31-28 win on a last second blocked FG. These are some of the best performances and standouts from the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='475435' first='Donovan' last='Hamilton'] - Hamilton Southeastern - WR - 6'4" 190lbs - 2024

Hamilton is someone we discovered and did a full analysis on last week. He became a top 10 ranked player in the class and then I got to see him live that same week. He more than checks out and is just as impressive in person as he is on tape. Anytime Hamilton Southeastern needed a big conversion, everyone knew where they were going with the ball, but still couldn't stop it. Hamilton is able to elevate and bring down the ball dang near every time. He towers above the competition and his vertical only extends that leash. Down the field jump ball are where he makes his money. He's able to grab the ball in the air and maintain possession throughout the process with his strong hands. His route tree isn't bad, but still a work in progress. As he develops, I imagine he'll continue to grow the tree and be more versatile in what he can do for the passing game. Hamilton is a Red Zone threat and you have to double him in that part of the field. Friday night, I was in the corner of the End Zone and they took a shot to Hamilton right towards me. Hamilton may have been 4-5 feet in the air when he went up for that ball. He wasn't able to bring it down and I joked with him afterwards he needed to be 6'7", but the point was he got up there. He's incredibly long, still young so he could very well still get taller, and is as good of an athlete you can ask for at his size. The future is bright and he was fun in person. I'm excited to watch him next year as well and see where he ends up because the hype is real.

[player_tooltip player_id='334101' first='Styles' last='Prescod'] - Hamilton Southeastern - OT - 6'6" 265lbs - 2024

Prescod quite literally stands out when you look at the line. All night long, this massive frame was setting his feet and giving the QB plenty of time. He's as real as we thought a few months ago. He's fantastic at setting the edge and protecting the blindside. He's able to set his feet and gain depth. He's got aggressive and strong hands and is able to redirect. He's nimble with a good center of gravity as well. Play after play, he was consistent. He's a recruit we think highly of and seeing him in person only validates his potential. On the move, he's a threat to punish a defender and will put them in the ground. He's got an edge to his game and the way he plays. Prescod is as reliable as they come as this level, especially at LT. The best part, he's still got another year of development left. He's a real 6'6" and his 265lbs is lean with muscle and looks like he could bulk up easily at the next level. Prescod is one of the more dominant and forceful players in the state on the line and that offense reaps the rewards. Wherever Prescod ends up, I can guarantee there's a celebration in that office that day.

[player_tooltip player_id='325821' first='Cole' last='Earlewine'] - Hamilton Southeastern - DB - 6'0" 190lbs - 2023

Earlewine is one of the most consistent players on defense that you'll find. Whether they put him in the backend of the defense or bring him down into the box, he's got the ability to do it all. Whether you need a tackle in the running game and someone to come down and be physical or drop back into coverage and make a play on the ball, Earlewine is your guy. This past Friday was no different as he was all over the field. He led the team with tackles hitting double digits and felt like if he didn't make the tackle, he was right there assisting. Earlewine has fantastic range and is able to cover a ton of ground, which is why he's able to bounce around. His 6'0" frame gives him some decent stride length. He's got loose hips and is able to turn and run without an issue and knows when to get his hands up to defend a pass. He's not stiff and can bulk up to play more in the box if needed. I think with Earlewine he's shown the ability and speed to play DB but he's also physical enough to develop as a LB at the next level who has great speed for the position. He's able to make hard tackles in the box and in the open field when he's the last line of defense. He's not going to get burned or break his ankles. He understands how to come to balance and properly make a tackle without rushing and missing the play. Earlewine was all over the field this past Friday and it was noticeable just how much he impacted the game. He's a sound recruit who sees the field well and is going to help out some program next year and moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='480588' first='Dominic' last='Burgett'] - Hamilton Southeastern - DE/DT - 6'2" 250lbs - 2023

Burgett is a relentless player who has no stop in his game. Down after down you're getting the same high motored player who just has a knack for making the big play. This past week, he single-handedly ruined multiple drives for Brownsburg and was in the backfield all night long. Burgett was constantly getting pressure and winning right off the line. He's got good leverage and understands how to use the OL body-weight against him. Burgett feels like a wrestler. Someone who has great control of his body and know how to manipulate the opposition. Burgett finished the night with 2 full sacks on top of 3.5 other TFLs. He was able to blow up the running game and force them to switch out of coming downhill. He's got long arms and strong hands and is able to jump gaps and make the play. He's nimble and has fairly decent sudden movement for a guy his size. Burgett frustrated the offense on Friday night and is only going to get better at the next level. A high motor guy who knows how to throw around weight and make the play is exactly what schools want. Burgett is someone who can come in, develop, and be a reliable contributor on the defensive line for years to come.

Jaren Bush - Hamilton Southeastern - ATH - 6'2" 185lbs - 2024

Bush is an exciting recruit because of his athleticism and versatility. He's played on both sides of the ball, including special teams, where he makes his presence felt. Defensively, he's got great speed and can run with pretty much anyone he comes across. He's light on his feet and has great reaction speed. He's twitchy and is an explosive athlete who can be molded on the field. If you want a rangy DB with great height, a potential LB who can put some weight on, or a guy who can go up and make spectacular catches, Bush is your guy. This past Friday, he made the biggest play of his career and was able to seal the Hamilton Southeastern the game. Game tying FG on the line and Bush explodes off the ball, dives, and recovers the blocked kick. That place went wild and it was all because of Bush and his effort. He's a bit raw in terms of an actual position, but as athletic as he is, he's going to have no issue getting caught up if he gets moved positions at the next level. Bush is a fantastic athlete who is going to develop and help out some program down the road.

[player_tooltip player_id='322418' first='Garrett' last='Sherrell'] - Brownsburg - RB - 5'8" 180lbs - 2024

Sherrell did everything he could for Brownsburg and made play after play. Brownsburg relied on the running game to move the chains and relieve the offense when it struggled. Sherrell was given the rock time and time again when it mattered most and he was able to move the chains, pick up big first downs, and keep the offense on the field. He had 2 TDs and over 100-yards on the night. He was making good cuts, breaking tackles, and fighting for every inch. This game was as dramatic and stressful as you'd think it would have been and Sherrell gave Brownsburg everything he had. He's not one to get cute and try making something out of nothing and make it worse like some backs can. He's got good tendencies and is able to cut on a dime. He's not the biggest or most physical back, but he's able to run in between the tackles without an issue. He's tough, can take big hits, and will bounce right back. He's best when he's in the open field and has a chance to make a defender miss and hit the gas. Sherrell has good vision and his feet are in sync with what he sees on the field. He's a fantastic RB and is going to have another year of school after this one. One thing is for sure, next year Sherrell is going to be asked to do more and carry more of the load and I think he'll be more than ready for that task.

[player_tooltip player_id='379796' first='Corey' last='Harris'] - Brownsburg - DB/LB - 6'2" 180lbs - 2023

Harris is someone who has continued to excel for Brownsburg because of the athleticism and versatility he's got. I got to know Corey a little bit this summer at a camp and he's a soft spoken genuine guy who knows how to flip the switch when he gets on the field. I appreciate that about him and the way he carries himself. He's quiet but when he gets on the field he becomes vocal, plays with emotion, and fights for his team. He's willing to make the selfless play and help his team. This past week, he was all over the field for Brownsburg. He was tasked from time to time with Hamilton and held his own. He's able to line up with WRs and thick and physical enough to play in the box. He's got good sideline to sideline speed and plays angry. He's a downhill, no nonsense player in terms of seeing and reacting. He's got quick feet but footwork is still coming along. Harris has gotten better year by year and week by week. The ability and confidence he's playing with now bodes well for his long term potential. He's still playing loose and free and has the athleticism to improvise on the field. He's someone to keep an eye on because of his speed and range. He could move around and be asked to do quite a bit at the next level if things work out and he develops the right way.

Jason Redmon Jr - Brownsburg - LB/S - 6'0" 185lbs - 2023

Redmon is a physical LB who is really good in the box and sees the field well, at least what's happening right in front of him at the LOS. He's able to jump gaps, not cross his feet, and lower his head to make the tackle. He's not going to get caught on his heels and blown back. He's willing to make tackles in the box and fight through traffic. He'll take his shot at the ball and try to strip it out of the hands of a ball carrier as well. He's had success in the past doing it and forcing the fumble. He's shown the ability to drop back into coverage and play well. He's had more success in zone and understands how to watch the eyes of the QB and react. He'll go to the sticks and defend that turf rather than not paying attention to where the first down is. He's athletic enough to play Safety as well. While he doesn't' have as much experience, he's been back there in the past and thrived. Redmon has a lot of good tools in his belt and potential of what he can do at the next level. He had a fantastic game this past week again and is continuing to stack weeks.

Jackson Sarjent - Brownsburg - DL - 6'1" 240lbs - 2025

Sarjent isn't going to be hidden much longer by Brownsburg. He's an animal and creates havoc on games and gets better as the game goes on. Some guys just have an ability to let loose and go nuts when they get on the field and that's Sarjent. When the ball is snapped, he feels like a hound being held back until you let it go. He's off the ball incredibly fast, has an explosive first step, and can blow guys off the ball. He's got great control of his body and understands how to use his leverage to his advantage. His background in wrestling is noticeable and it helps him literally every single down. Sarjent is great in the running game and if he doesn't blow it up in the backfield, is able to make the tackle when he gets his hands on the ball carrier. He's great in the passing game and more often than not, forces the QB to flush out of the pocket and take off. This past week, he may not have had the typical stat stuffing game, but he was there impacting the game. He was pressuring the QB and forcing him to get it out early. He's going to get his arms up an bat the ball down if he doesn't get home. A few times, it's led to interceptions and you can imagine there will be more down the road. Right now, he's only a Sophomore but feels like he's ahead of the curb. Sarjent is also a high motor guy who checks that box as well. By the time he comes out in 2025 we could be looking at one of the best DL prospects in the state. Sarjent is going to be plugging defenses and causing issues for the next few years before he graduates. He will likely be a well-known name when the time comes and it'll be well-deserved.

[player_tooltip player_id='322414' first='Corey' last='Smith'] - Brownsburg - WR - 6'1" 175lbs - 2024

Smith is an elite athlete with game changing speed. Every week he's a threat to hit the home run with his ability to take the top off. He's not only fast, but he's able to fight through traffic in air to bring down the ball, and then is balanced enough to come down, stay up, and the rest usually speaks for itself as the Special Teams unit heads onto the field. Very few guys have the ability to make anyone miss in the smallest of spaces and re-accelerate back to full speed immediately, and Smith is one of those guys. As good as he is downfield with the long bomb, he's just as good underneath. He's great at creating and making something out of nothing in the screen game. Friday wasn't the biggest day for Smith, but he came through when they needed him and he still led the way in the receiving game. Smith put up 4-76-1 in a game with as much pressure and drama you'll see in Indiana. He was also just barely overthrown for another deep ball where he had his guy beat for the TD. He's fantastic off the line and knows how to win with his speed and create leverage. Smith has the explosiveness and tools to be a fantastic player at the next level. He's got some looks, but he deserves more and I imagine it won't be long until the rest of the crowd catches up.
