It’s almost playoff time, and we’ve seen some standout performances from a strong core of freshmen this season. This group features a mixture of immediate-impact guys on varsity, along with a few others that are developing quickly on the lower levels. Look for them to finish this season on a high note and enter this off-season with a ton of momentum.
QB: Jett Thomalla Jett Thomalla 6'4" | 185 lbs | QB Millard South | 2026 State NE , 6’2″ 160, Millard South
- Shows solid vertical ball touch.
- Identifies the holes in zone coverage post-snap and will take what the defense gives him.
- Has a swift set-up on quick game concepts and a clean follow-through.
- Jett is pretty creative against free rushers and can buy some time with his legs to create late throws downfield.
QB: Hayden Holdren, 6’2″ 170, Norris
- An accurate southpaw that is willing to work off his first read and work through the progression.
- At ease throwing on the move.
- A well-trained internal clock lets him know when it’s time to leave the pocket.
- Terrific timing as a dropback thrower.
LB: B.J. Louis, 6’1″ 210, Omaha North
- Hands are quite violent.
- Equipped with a strong lower half and a potent bull rush.
- Has a knack for making plays from the backside of runs.
- Gives up little to no ground at the point of attack.
WR: Amarion Jackson, 6′ 165, Millard South
- Fearless going up and getting the football in traffic.
- Shows deceptive build-up speed.
- Is a tough runner after the catch that will fight for every yard he can get.
- A skilled route runner that is a master at creating separation.
WR: Braxton Chvatal Braxton Chvatal 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR North Bend Central | 2026 State NE , 5’10” 150, North Bend Central
- Catches everything thrown his way.
- A high-effort blocker out on the perimeter.
- Quite shifty with the ball in his hands.
- A well-versed return man that will consistently get the ball out past the 25-yard line.
WR: Caden Shafer Caden Shafer 6'1" | 205 lbs | TE Roncalli Catholic | 2026 State NE , N/A, Roncalli Catholic
- Is a reliable target that does his best work out of the slot.
- Has the tools of a possession-type receiver.
- Knows how to find his way through the holes in zone coverage.
- Shows excellent concentration on poorly thrown balls.
ATH: Owen Sutter Owen Sutter 6'3" | 225 lbs | TE Yutan | 2026 State NE , 6’3″ 210, Yutan
- Has a projectable frame for the next level.
- Showed a ton of promise at both defensive end and tight end.
- Strength overwhelms opponents most of the time.
- Drives double teams with his linemate up to the second level.
