The game has undoubtedly always been won or lost up front by the offensive and defensive linemen in the trenches and this saying has held true thus far this fall.

I define superlative defensive linemen as a "Dawg", and stellar offensive linemen as a "Hog" respectfully.

The quarterbacks, receivers, and running backs will normally always be first the ones to get most of the recognition in the press but the truth is that the “Hogs and Dawgs” are one of the most important factors to any team's playoff hopes. The prospects listed below bring elite production, skill, and are all guys to keep an eye on.

Drew Perez - Southlake High- Class of 2023

Drew is a 6'8 330 pound mountain of a offensive tackle that been impressive on film through the first 8 weeks of the season. The Colorado commit has played big and has noticeably improved his technique and body control since the summer. What stood out the most was his strain to finish on his backside double teams along with his improved redirection skills and refit for hand control. His ability to bend and maintain and sustain his base blocks has been great and will need to continue to be a strong point of his game as the playoffs approach.

[player_tooltip player_id='273002' first='Jack' last='Tanner'] - Marcus High - Class of 2024

Jack made his initial debut in PrepRedzone rankings as the 6th best offensive linemen in the state and number 46 player overall regardless of position and he has lived up to the hype. He has played good football with his insteps in the ground and been impressive with his strain to finish and has strung together a bevy of solid performances.
He's picked up scholarship offers from Tulane, UNT, and recently took an unofficial game day visit to Vanderbilt university where he reportedly had a great time and enjoyed the campus.

[player_tooltip player_id='136140' first='Enow' last='Etta'] - Covenant Christian Academy- Class of 2023

Enow is a 6'4 220 pound explosive edge defender that plays behind his pads and has does a good job of being disruptive and creating havoc behind the line of scrimmage.
The University of Michigan commit has lit it up this year and has done a great job applying pressure to the quarterback and running to the football.
One thing about playing on the defensive front at Michigan is that you have to do all of the little things right to get on the field early like getting knock ‘em back on your blocker at the line of scrimmage, running to the football, and getting sideline to sideline to gang tackle and his game fits that mold and mindset perfectly.

[player_tooltip player_id='136132' first='Avion' last='Carter'] - Tascosa High - Class of 2023

Avion is a 6'4 260 pound explosive defender out of Amarillo, Texas that has made a major impact for his squad this fall. He is a savvy defender that does a good job with initiating contact to win the line of scrimmage and disengaging the blocker. He has an elite get off and a bag of pass rush moves at his disposal. The TCU commit had scholarship offers from the likes of Cal, Baylor, Oklahoma State, and Arizona State. His play has helped his team to a 6-1 record and they will need him to keep making plays as the playoffs near.

Ashton is a 6'4 240 pound elite edge defender out of Cypress Texas that holds a 3.85 GPA and has had a huge year of production this fall. He has elite closing speed and is a very competitive track athlete. He is a blur off of the edge and a mismatch for the average high school offensive tackle. He has a slew of offers from all around the country and is a guy that will be able to step on campus and contribute day one. The Under Armour All American recently decommitted from Northwestern and has opened his recruiting back up so it will be interesting to see where he lands.
