Offense’s were definitely in full effect last week and everyone seemed to be playing at an extremely high level. So, let’s take a look at some offensive stars who balled out.
Riley Tschetter – QB, Freeman/Marion/FA
Tschetter put on a show last week and he was lighting everyone up that tried to come in his way when he was throwing the pigskin with such efficiency. What he did was put on an elite level passing output which he did in a variety of ways whether that be throwing deep passes or short check downs which develop plays further on. His stat line is where you are going to want to see what he did and the box score is something that QBs dream about. 386 passing yards was the main thing I saw when looking at the stats and he also had some dual threat capabilities coming out with 73 rushing yards with a rushing TD to boot. Not to mention that he had 5 passing touchdowns on the night, and was simply that guy for the offense and lead them to victory. Tschetter is now on my radar after this game since QBs do not just have games like this out of the blue without having immense talent.
Brenden Begeman Brenden Begeman 6'2" | 195 lbs | RB Herreid/Selby | 2023 State – RB, Herreid/Selby Area
Begeman was outstanding this last week and he was an elite power rusher as usual with this game he moved up on the South Dakota all-time rushing list. Begeman is now up to 13th on the South Dakota all-time rushing list and it will be going up most likely with the season and only making his place as one of SD’s top RBs of all-time even more known. His stats this past game were indicative of what he does just about every game with overpowering and not being able to be stopped at all. His box score looked like something you see out of a video game with him rushing for a total of 277 yards and having 5 rushing touchdowns on the night. While he might not have the dual-threat capabilities that other RBs might have, they do not have the power and ability to run over anyone who comes his way. Begeman is going to be great no matter what level of football he goes onto plays and I will be watching him every step for how special he is when he is on the field.
Lincoln Kienholz Lincoln Kienholz 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Pierre | 2023 State – QB, Pierre TF Riggs
Kienholz finds a new way to show me what he can do every week and every time that he does it, it shows just how much talent this kid has. The past few weeks he has truly been elite on both sides of the ball and his rushing attack has been something that I have been paying attention to. While we all know how great his passing attack is every game, his ability to rush and be a dual-threat QB is something that I like to see. His passing numbers are what we always expect to see with him throwing 22-30 ad 320 yards overall with 4 passing touchdowns. Managing to link up with his top targets throughout the game and watching him like I had the chance to do in person shows me so much about what he can do. His rushing attack this game was something I would like to highlight since he has been stepping into as one of the best rushers that South Dakota has. He had 20 rushes overall on the night and 197 rushing yards with 2 rushing touchdowns. He has shown that not only can he be the lead rusher on his team but the best player on the field at all times. If you have the chance, watch Kienholz in person to see how talented he is, and just watch what he can do when he is in the zone.
Dylan Langerock – WR, Brandon Valley
Langerock is part of an elite receiving core on his team and he put on a show on the field last Friday which was truly great to see. He was creating separation all night from anyone trying to put him in a box and how he did was using his speed along size to make defenders pay when they match up with him one on one. I like to call Langerock, “The Zone Buster”, since that is something that he looks like he can like second nature, finding holes and making gaps in zone coverages. His stat sheet truly showed what he did when the ball went his way, and while he only had nine total catches, he made the most of them. With those 9 catches, he racked up 234 yards with those coming from many big gains where he put his defender and showed how well he can create separation. Add a touchdown onto that and you have an all-round elite wideout performance on the night. Langerock has been hitting his strides along with the other stars on Brandon Valley and they seem to be doing this all at the right time with the playoffs right around the corner, While their night did not end the way that they would have liked, they played with all of their heart and gave it their all, which is all you can ask of them.
