Recruiting News and Notes 10-3-22

The beginning of the week is when we examine all of the recruiting headlines taking place in the Natural State this week. We have plenty of recruiting news to catch up on that has taken place over the course of a busy week. The recruiting news is just starting to heat up and we are rapidly approaching the early signing period for the class of 2023. [player_tooltip player_id='180294' first='JT' last='Tomescko']-Defensive Back-Bentonville-2023   It will come as no surprise that one of the best defensive backs in the state continues to tear it up this season. On Monday, Tomescko committed to continue to his playing career at the Air Force Academy. He has done a great job lurking in the secondary this season and on Friday he picked off two passes. The versatility that Tomescko has is going to serve him well at the next level and the Air Force Academy got themselves a quality player and person.   Jordon Harris-Tight End-Pine Bluff-2023   Versatility is the name of the game for Jordon Harris. From the tight end position, Harris has put his excellent hands on display numerous times this season. Meanwhile, from the defensive side of the ball he uses his speed well to get into the opposing offensive backfield. Over the past week, Harris has racked in scholarship offers from Air Force, Harding University, and Lincoln University. The recruitment of Harris is just starting to heat up.   [player_tooltip player_id='354784' first='Trey' last='Howard']-Wide Receiver-Little Rock Christian-2024   [player_tooltip player_id='354784' first='Trey' last='Howard'] is a prospect that has terrific speed on both sides of the ball. On the offensive side of the ball, Howard has the speed to create separation and take it the distance. However, on the defensive side of the ball, Howard causes plenty of problems for opposing wide receivers with his speed and ability to catch the ball. The Arkansas State Red Wolves invited Howard to the game this past weekend and be a part of the festivities. Howard is going to attract plenty of recruiting attention over the next few weeks.   [player_tooltip player_id='134859' first='Cory' last='Henderson Jr'].-Wide Receiver-North Little Rock-2023   The North Little Rock wide receiver is a prospect that can stretch the field vertically. Henderson Jr. does a good job of creating separation with the use of his speed. College scouts are taking notice of his ability in the passing game. The North Little Rock wide out received a scholarship offer from Knox College. Henderson Jr. has performed well the past two seasons and is a player to watch out for the rest of the season.   [player_tooltip player_id='191634' first='Grant' last='Karnes']-Wide Receiver-Greenwood-2025   Greenwood wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='191634' first='Grant' last='Karnes'] has exploded on to the scene this season. He has impressive speed and uses it well to create separation from opposing defenders. Karnes is a versatile prospect that can also return punts and kicks. Karnes paid a visit to Fayetteville this weekend to take in the Arkansas-Alabama game. Karnes is a wide receiver to watch out for, he is just getting warmed up.    [player_tooltip player_id='201147' first='Anton' last='Pierce']-Defensive Back-Little Rock Mills-2023   The Little Rock Mills Comets have a playmaker in the secondary. Pierce currently leads the state in interceptions and has been on a roll all season. The Mills' defensive back has had a busy couple of weeks. Last week visiting the Memphis Tigers and this weekend paying a visit to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Pierce has the speed and ability in the secondary to be an impact player on Saturdays in the future.   [player_tooltip player_id='202575' first='Kane' last='Archer']-Quarterback-Greenwood-2026   We have had the opportunity to get a look at [player_tooltip player_id='202575' first='Kane' last='Archer'] several times this season and he has not disappointed. He has moved around in the pocket well and thrown the deep ball with impressive accuracy. Archer had the opportunity to visit the Arkansas Razorbacks over the weekend as they took on the Alabama Crimson Tide. Archer is a prospect to watch out for over the next couple of seasons.   [player_tooltip player_id='155329' first='Bryce' last='Perkins']-Quarterback-Van Buren-2024   The Van Buren signal caller has been busy on the recruiting trail the past few weeks. A couple of weeks ago Perkins had the opportunity to visit the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Last weekend, he had the chance to take in a visit to the Memphis Tigers. Perkins fits the offense well with his accuracy and ability to escape the pocket and use his legs to move the chains. I look for Perkins to be a popular prospect over the next few months from a recruiting perspective.   [player_tooltip player_id='221259' first='Cash' last='Archer']-Defensive Line-Greenwood-2025   [player_tooltip player_id='221259' first='Cash' last='Archer'] is a defensive line prospect that can terrorize the opponent's offensive line with his speed. He gets into the backfield extremely quick and is able to cause problems for the opponent's rushing game as well as the passing game. Archer has a scholarship offer from the Louisville Cardinals and will earn more over the next few months. Archer was visiting the Arkansas Razorbacks over the weekend as well. Keep an eye on Cash, I expect him to earn some more offers over the next few months.
