Continue ReadingThis week I took to Twitter to ask for game tapes to review, and I got a lot of exciting clips from players all over the state. This is the first part of my Twitter Game Tape responses featuring Ord’s Talan Bruha Talan Bruha 6'2" | 195 lbs | ATH Ord | 2024 State NE , Bishop Neumann’s Trevor Sladky, Burke’s Messiah Strong, Lincoln East’s Ethan Garner Ethan Garner 6'2" | 285 lbs | OL Lincoln East | 2025 State NE , and Omaha South’s Jesus Estrada Jesus Estrada 6'3" | 290 lbs | OL Omaha Burke | 2024 State NE .
Stay tuned, as there are more game tapes from my mentions and DMs that I will be reviewing as well.
Talan Bruha Talan Bruha 6'2" | 195 lbs | ATH Ord | 2024 State NE | 2024 | OLB/WR | 6’2″ 195 lbs
Ord’s Talan Bruha Talan Bruha 6'2" | 195 lbs | ATH Ord | 2024 State NE is a player that has stepped up big time for the Chanticleers. Talan’s sophomore season on defense caught my eye last season, but this year he has impressed at receiver as well. Bruha sent in his game tape against Amherst, which has been his best game this season. Offensively he hauled in 3 receptions for 114 rushing yards for an average of 38 yards per reception. He did a lot of his damage on medium routes while adding a ton of yards after the catch. Although he didn’t get in the endzone, he set his team up perfectly to score with his long gains. Talan also had a monster game on defense, with 4 tackles and 2 interceptions. He has great mobility and moves especially well in coverage, where he doesn’t mind getting physical in order to make a play. Talan and the Chanticleers are playing great football right now and could see a deep playoff push in Class C2.
Trevor Sladky | 2024 | RB/CB | Bishop Neumann | 5’8″ 155 lbs
Bishop Neumann’s Trevor Sladky sent in his breakout performance in the Cavalier’s win over Louisville. On only seven carries, Trevor managed to rush for 105 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. Sladky displayed some tough running in between the tackles as he took on contact and managed to stay upright. One thing that I thought he did very well was his ability to see the field and find holes. He had a run that starts at the 57-second mark, where you can see his patience and vision as he looks for a lane. This was also evident in his kick and punt returns, both of which he almost took to the endzone. The Cavaliers have a young playmaker in the making with Trevor Sladky.
Messiah Strong | 2024 | RB/DB | Burke | 5’8″ 175 lbs
Burke CB Messiah Strong sent in his game tape from the Bulldog’s win over Benson. Messiah had a great game in coverage against a tough Benson receiving group. One thing that caught my eye from Strong’s tape was how he does a great job at keeping up with his receiver and being physical in man coverage, and he is smart and instinctive in zone coverage. He had a nice play in his tape where he closes space between himself and a streaking Benson receiver over top, making the play and saving a touchdown. When Messiah is within range, he likes to get physical at the catch-point and contest the catch. Watch out for Messiah as he continues to get better and better.
Ethan Garner Ethan Garner 6'2" | 285 lbs | OL Lincoln East | 2025 State NE | 2025 | OL/DL | Lincoln East | 6’3″ 280 lbs
This is a young OL prospect that I’m excited to watch in the upcoming years. The Spartan’s left tackle, Ethan Garner Ethan Garner 6'2" | 285 lbs | OL Lincoln East | 2025 State NE , earned the starting spot this season and has been solid. Garner is a big, physical player that can pack a lot of power into his mean punch. One thing I like about his game is his athleticism. I was present for the LE- Millard South game (the tape Ethan sent in) and saw Ethan constantly in the second level opening lanes. Evan against a very good Millard South front 7, Garner made several great plays and showed a very high ceiling. He’s only a sophomore, so he has plenty of time to work on the nuances of his position, but don’t be surprised if Ethan starts getting looks very soon!
Jesus Estrada Jesus Estrada 6'3" | 290 lbs | OL Omaha Burke | 2024 State NE | 2024 | OL | Omaha South | 6’3″ 290 lbs
Another big monster in the trenches, Omaha South’s Jesus Estrada Jesus Estrada 6'3" | 290 lbs | OL Omaha Burke | 2024 State NE , has quietly had a great season for the Packers. Jesus sent in his midseason highlights, in which he looks like a very solid prospect. Right off the bat, what pops out is Jesus’ strength and power. He has a strong upper body and violent hands that he uses to swat defenders away and bring them to the ground. Estrada is the starter at right tackle, and he does a great job being physical when clearing that edge and opening lanes in run plays designed his way. One thing OL coaches will like about Jesus is how he loves to finish his blocks, with several pancake blocks scattered throughout his highlight tape. Jesus is only a junior, so he will still have the rest of this season and the offseason to hammer away at the details, but should draw lots of attention by the time he’s a senior.
