Week seven of the high school football season had plenty of entertaining contests and numerous standout performances this week. We are edging closer to the playoffs; however, we have plenty of football to take care of before then. It is time to take a look at the performances and prospects that lit up the Friday night skies this week.

[player_tooltip player_id='136008' first='Dede' last='Johnson'] Jr-Running Back-Searcy-2023

One of the state's most consistent running backs is putting together another impressive season. On Friday night, Johnson Jr. rushed for 240 yards on 25 carries and three touchdowns. He is the type of running back that can run you over or make a cut and cause you to miss a tackle. Johnson Jr is a running back that I expect to have a strong finish to the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='393021' first='Dane' last='Williams']-Quarterback-Rogers-2024

[player_tooltip player_id='393021' first='Dane' last='Williams'] and the Mounties did not let a setback last week have an impact on this week's game. Williams has had a tremendous season and is a prospect to watch out for over the next year. The Rogers signal caller was 18-of-25 for 185 yards and four touchdowns. The Mounties have the potential to make a run in the playoffs in a few weeks.

[player_tooltip player_id='149578' first='Bo' last='Williams']-Running Back-Shiloh Christian-2024

The Shiloh Christian rushing attack is a unit that tends to get overlooked. However, it is a facet of the offense that will hurt you and you do not realize it until you check the stats at the end of the game. [player_tooltip player_id='149578' first='Bo' last='Williams'] churned out 78 yards on the ground off of 10 carries. However, he punched the ball in the end zone four times this week.

[player_tooltip player_id='475683' first='Sloan' last='Perrin']-Quarterback-Nashville-2023

We discussed [player_tooltip player_id='475683' first='Sloan' last='Perrin'] a little earlier in the week and he put up big numbers on Friday night. Perrin rushed 15 times for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, he was 7-of-17 for 36 yards through the air. Perrin and the Scrappers are a team getting hot at the right time. Nashville is another team that could be dangerous in the playoffs.

[player_tooltip player_id='149577' first='Braylen' last='Russell']-Running Back-Benton-2024

Russell is putting together a strong 2022 football season. On Friday night, the Benton running back rushed for eight times for 136 yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, he did plenty of damage catching the ball as well. Russell caught three passes for 38 yards and one touchdown in the win over El Dorado. Russell is a player to watch out for over the next few months.

[player_tooltip player_id='478122' first='Braden' last='Long']-Running Back-Harrison-2024

The Harrison Goblins have a strong rushing attack and they have used it to an impressive degree this season. In the victory over Alma on Friday night, Long rushed 21 times for 231 yards and four touchdowns. Long works on both sides of the ball for the Goblins and he is going to be an interesting prospect to watch over the next two seasons.

Bodie Neal-Wide Receiver-Shiloh Christian-2023

The Shiloh Christian Saints are clicking on all cylinders as the playoffs approach. Shiloh Christian wide receiver Bodie Neal had another strong outing on Friday night. The Saints wide receiver hauled in nine receptions for 175 yards and one touchdown. Neal has the speed to stretch the defense deep and that talent has been on full display the past few weeks. Keep an eye on Neal and the Saints as the playoffs approach.

[player_tooltip player_id='91975' first='CJ' last='Turner']-Defensive Back-Star City-2023

[player_tooltip player_id='91975' first='CJ' last='Turner'] does a little bit of everything for Star City. The young man is a devastating linebacker and one of the most productive running backs in the state. On the offensive side of the ball, Turner rushed five times for 126 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the ball he had four tackles, three quarterback hurries, and one fumble recovery.

Martavius Thomas-Quarterback-Camden Fairview-2023

Thomas is a quarterback that can hurt you with the run and the pass. On Friday night, Thomas threw for 252 yards four touchdowns. He was 16-of-22 and had the chance to put on display his impressive accuracy on Friday night. Camden Fairview is a dangerous football team when they have everything clicking at the same time.

[player_tooltip player_id='191634' first='Grant' last='Karnes']-Wide Receiver-Greenwood-2025

[player_tooltip player_id='191634' first='Grant' last='Karnes'] continues to open plenty of eyes this season. The Greenwood wide receiver had another big night of a production. Karnes hauled in five receptions for 112 yards and one touchdown. Karnes is a player to watch out for over the next couple of seasons. The Greenwood receiving corps is a nightmare to contain and this young man has the ability to make plays all over the field.

[player_tooltip player_id='149579' first='Dax' last='Goff']-Linebacker-Booneville-2024

The Booneville linebacker is one prospect that is continuing to open eyes this season. Goff had another big night on the offensive side of the ball. Goff rushed nine times for 244 yards and two touchdowns on Friday night. After watching him last week, Goff is a prospect that has the ability to play on Saturdays in the future.

We are edging closer to the playoffs; however, we have plenty of football to take care of before then. It is time to take a look at the performances and prospects that lit up the Friday night skies this week.
