On Friday, October, 7th 2022 I attended The Strake Jesuit Crusaders vs The Pearland Dawson Eagles. It was an intense game from start to finish. Strake Jesuit had the majority of the momentum during the 1st half, but Strake Jesuit threw two interceptions at the end of the 2nd quarter which led to Dawson scoring 10 points putting them in the lead right before halftime. After that Strake and Dawson kept scoring back to back and the final score was 52-44 with Dawson's victory. In this article, I'll be discussing the Pearland Dawson Eagles standouts from both sides of the ball.

Dawson Eagles Offense

#5 Bryce Burgess RB Jr 5'8 170 lbs

Bryce Burgess is the MVP for The Pearland Dawson Eagles. Despite Bryce's build he is a powerful runner able to run through any defender and is incredibly fast. Bryce is one of the sole reasons that Dawson was able to come back against Strake Jesuit. Every time Bryce ran the ball Strake Jesuit couldn't stop him at all. Bryce zoomed through the middle numerous times without being touched resulting in either a long run or a touchdown. With a game like Bryce had against Strake Jesuit I'm positive he could be a top college prospect. Bryce wrapped up the game with 16 carries, 202 rushing yards, 4 rushing touchdowns and 3 receptions, 56 receiving yards, and 2 touchdowns having a total of 258 all-purpose yards and 6 total touchdowns.

#8 Colin Johnson QB Sr 6'4 185 lbs

Colin Johnson is a giant and an efficient quarterback. Colin has great awareness and always gave his wide receivers easy passes to catch. The only times one of Colin's passes went incomplete was due to great coverage or a drop pass by one of his receivers. When Colin couldn't find a receiver to pass the ball to he was good at scrambling getting enough yards for a 1st down. Colin currently has two college offers from The University of Louisiana Christian and the University of Arkansas Monticello. Colin wrapped up the game with 180 passing yards and threw 3 touchdown passes.

Dawson Eagles Defense

#2 [player_tooltip player_id='277566' first='Bryson' last='Burgess'] SS, FS Jr 5'9 160 lbs

[player_tooltip player_id='277566' first='Bryson' last='Burgess'] just like his twin on offense Bryce Burgess was the MVP on defense. Bryson plays as a strong and free safety preventing touchdowns runs and breaking a good amount of passes. Bryson is also a strong tackler with great tackling form. Bryson was always in the action is the core of Strake Jesuit's defense. Bryson wrapped up the game with 6 solo tackles and 3 assist tackles having a total of 9 overall tackles.
