Continue ReadingThis class is loaded with talent and they have some studs who are going to be highly recruited one day. When we talk about freshman we have seen some of the best. Their class is full of guys who have stepped up big this year. The season has came and some more have stepped to the scene. Here are some I haven’t talked about yet.
Gavin Howard, Holmes Co Central, ATH
Gavin Howard is a very explosive freshman who is making plays on a high level in Mississippi. He is not going up against weak opponents. This young man produces every time that he touches the field for the Jaguars. I am definitely a fan and think he has the chance to be a big time player in MS. All he does is makes plays. He has some very good vision and he knows how to get open. He has exceptional ball skills and knows how to come down with the rock. He is also a very good return specialist.
Landon Duckworth, QB, Jackson HS (Ala)
Landon Duckworth is a 6-3 185 stud of a QB. I truly love his style and play. He is a big boy who can get it done in the air or with his feet. He has some very good mechanics and I love the way he is poised when he stands back in the pocket. I think that Duckworth has the chance to be a nationally known prospect. He already has good arm strength and he progresses well through his reads. He also has the size to be a power five prospect. I don’t think he will be a guy that is only known throughout Alabama. He will have a very big name.
Jack Durr, QB, Pearl
Jack has came and stepped up big for Pearl. He has a nice arm and knows when to deliver the ball on time. He is not timid at all when he stands tall in the pocket. He isn’t going to win a track state championship, but he can move around some and extend plays. He is a guy that should be kept up with. His team isn’t having the best year, but he will definitely have the opportunity to display himself in the future. He has some upside.
Bennett Payton, Jr, LB, Noxubee
Bennett Payton is a tall lanky guy who gets after it on defense. He has a great chance to become a big guy and truly grow into that 6-3 frame. The more he trains and understands how to read defenses the better he will become. He has some long arms and big hands. This kid is nowhere near done growing. I think that he has the opportunity to be mentioned amongst some of the best in his class across the state. Look for him to continue to have a good season in these last two weeks.
Savion Hiter, RB, Louisa Co HS (VA)
This is a running back who has a lot of upside. He has all of the tools you want a running back to have and he is just a freshman. He is very explosive and he is not coming down with arm tackles. He has the speed to break plays open and he also has good vision. There aren’t many running backs in this class who are as polished as he is. He is definitely a power five prospect.
