Both teams head into competition undefeated and at the top tier of the MIAA Power rankings for Div 2. These are two solid programs that have a good number of recruits on their rosters. Entering Friday, King Philip, ranked No. 3 in Div. 2 heading into the game, improved to 6-0 with its win over Milford, the top-ranked MIAA team in Div. 2. The following recruits had good game performances.
“ Matt Kelley Matt Kelley 5’10” | K King Philip | 2023 State New E ” booted field goals of 25 and 42 yards on the night with ease. He also caught a 13-yard touchdown pass on a athletic diving catch by the right sideline. The catch easily confirmed why he is committed to Amherst College to continue his education and gridiron career. He also has kicking skills and athletic skills that just stand out. Very gritty performance..
“Evan Corneilus” threw for 234 yards passing on the night. A very good performance on the offensive side of the ball. He also plays DE and that is where he really shined on the night. He is a force on the edge. His strength can’t be ignored!!! You very rarely see a starting high school (qb), also starting in a defensive end position. His relentless desire to attack was surely on display. Watching him play in a live setting, easily confirmed why he also starts in a defensive position he will likely be recruited at the next level.

Watching “ Tommy McLeish Tommy McLeish 6’4″ | 195 lbs | QB King Philip Regional | 2024 State New E ” play once again this year was a pleasure. His command presence just can’t be ignored. He is a confident leader that is patient and does a great job on his defensive reads at presnap. His frame is perfect at 6’4″ and he can sling the ball. The game plan didn’t call on his arm a bunch, he did throw for 138 yards on 8 of 16 passing. His accuracy stood out on the completions throughout the night.
Highlights
Isaiah Pantalone Isaiah Pantalone 5’9″ | 170 lbs | ATH Milford H.S. Ma. | 2023 New E was a sight to see. He was involved on both sides of the ball in big ways throughout the night. Playing both WR and DB his athleticism just popped. He has very good game speed. He is quick, He is explosive, and can jump. He had nine catches for 156 yards on the night. A go-to type of guy who can change the game at any time with his athletic skills and big play abilities. A solid athlete who should see additional college attention immediately after if not during this season.
Coming out of preseason, “ Kyle Abbott Kyle Abbott 5’9″ | 195 lbs | RB KIng Phillip H.S. Ma. | 2023 New E ” was assigned the back up role to his teammate “Rudy Gately”. But after an early season injury, he was asked to step into the RB position and he has delivered in a big way. He is not a large RB, but he has the determination and physical toughness to take on the hard interior runs and with positive ball securing play. He is a grinder who seems to get stronger as the game goes on.
