I made the long journey out west from the Omaha-Lincoln area to check out some of the talent outwest and like always the 308 does not disappoint. This week a 5-0 Kearney who just came off pulling the upset against Bellevue West. Kearney had taken down teams from across Nebraska and went into last weekend wanting to keep up their undefeated season. Grand Island had done the same falling only to Omaha Westside. Both teams needed and wanted this game and you could tell with how they played.

Report

Grand Island took no time into scoring. [player_tooltip player_id='227545' first='Cohen' last='Evans'] to [player_tooltip player_id='238867' first='Cole' last='Thorne'] and the Islanders score first over the Bearcats. Kearney would strike back and a throw from [player_tooltip player_id='330304' first='Treyven' last='Beckman'] to Jack Dahlgren tying it up right away. On the next drive Grand Island would do a pooch kick to the Bearcats the ball would be muffed and GI would get on top of the ball to retain their drive. [player_tooltip player_id='227069' first='Jace' last='Chrisman'] would then take the ball in and run it into the endzone putting the Islanders up 14-7. The bearcats wouldn't stay down they drove down the field and [player_tooltip player_id='250663' first='Karter' last='Lee'] would go up to catch the ball and score the TD tying the game again 14-14. [player_tooltip player_id='238867' first='Cole' last='Thorne'] would show his skills by dragging his feet in to complete the Touchdown. Islanders go up again 21-14. The Islander's Defense would hold strong and let the Offense go down to the red zone again. [player_tooltip player_id='169901' first='Zander' last='Reuling'] and the rest of the Bearcats would not let another score pass. Zander had an amazing deflection in the endzone. GI would attempt the FG but the Bearcats would block it. Kearney would stutter on offense and would give it back to Grand Island. Colton Marsh would take it 48 yards to the house putting the Islanders up 2 scores. 28-14. He broke every tackle on the way to the endzone and it was crazy. Kearney had hope that they could send this thing to overtime. The Bearcats drove quickly and [player_tooltip player_id='415237' first='Carson' last='Baker'] would score the touchdown putting the undefeated Bearcats down one score. It sadly wasn't enough and the Bearcats fell for the first time this year 28-21.

Highlights

https://twitter.com/jedidiahrhardy/status/1576032534969823234?s=20&t=2C3MI9bZuxSrZB0Cba8blQ

https://twitter.com/jedidiahrhardy/status/1576023480159461376?s=20&t=2C3MI9bZuxSrZB0Cba8blQ

https://twitter.com/jedidiahrhardy/status/1576021182951792640?s=20&t=2C3MI9bZuxSrZB0Cba8blQ

https://twitter.com/jedidiahrhardy/status/1576009056061648896?s=20&t=2C3MI9bZuxSrZB0Cba8blQ

https://twitter.com/jedidiahrhardy/status/1576006702326947840?s=20&t=2C3MI9bZuxSrZB0Cba8blQ

Top Players

QB [player_tooltip player_id='330304' first='Treyven' last='Beckman']

Beckman lead the Bearcats on friday with some amazing stats. 16/24 for 240 total yards averaging 15 yards per catch.
