Class C1 First-Round Preview

First-Round Games:   #16 Scotus Catholic (6-3) at #1 Aurora (9-0)   Projected Winner: Aurora   <ul><li>Aurora has been a juggernaut this season as they ran through their schedule to a 9-0 regular season.</li><li>There are some concerns surrounding RB [player_tooltip player_id='217059' first='Carlos' last='Collazo'] and an injury he's been nursing. If he does play I think he has a big game and continues business as usual.</li><li>Regardless of who's running the ball, the Husky defense should still operate at a high level. They have lights out all year.</li></ul>   Player of the Game: RB [player_tooltip player_id='217059' first='Carlos' last='Collazo']    #9 Lincoln Christian (7-2) at #8 Roncalli Catholic (7-2)   Projected Winner: Roncalli Catholic   <ul><li>This is an interesting matchup that could be a shootout. </li><li>I give the edge to Roncalli Catholic as they have looked more impressive against a tougher schedule.</li><li>The Roncalli Catholic defense has been very stingy with a solid core of playmakers; [player_tooltip player_id='330971' first='Charlie' last='Mausbach'], [player_tooltip player_id='340509' first='Clay' last='Shafer'], [player_tooltip player_id='239906' first='Wyatt' last='Yetter'], etc.</li></ul>   Player of the Game: QB [player_tooltip player_id='340508' first='Brady' last='McGill']    #12 Minden (6-3) at #5 Boone Central (7-2)   Projected Winner: Boone Central   <ul><li>This is a solid game between two teams that seem fairly matched.</li><li>Boone Central has an explosive offense with a trio (Alex Christo, [player_tooltip player_id='250336' first='Parker' last='Borer'], and [player_tooltip player_id='340512' first='Brant' last='Benes']) that can light it up on the score board.</li><li>On the other hand, Minden has solid defense that can fly around and make plays.</li><li>Boone Central gets my pick here. I think the Boone Central playmakers on both sides hold tough and prove to be too much for the Whippets.</li></ul>   Player of the Game: RB [player_tooltip player_id='250336' first='Parker' last='Borer']    #13 Auburn (6-3) at #4 Ashland-Greenwood (8-1)   Projected Winner: Ashland-Greenwood   <ul><li>AG boasts one of the toughest defenses in all of C1. In fact, during the week 4 matchup between these two, Ashland-Greenwood shutout Auburn, 40-0</li><li>One of the big names to watch is DL [player_tooltip player_id='239150' first='Luke' last='Lambert'] who has been destructive all season long. One thing he does very well, is show up in big moments.</li><li>Auburn does have a solid running game to challenge the Bluejay defense.</li><li>The AG offense can score in a variety of ways.</li></ul>   Player of the Game: DL [player_tooltip player_id='239150' first='Luke' last='Lambert']    #14 Broken Bow (5-4) at #3 McCook (9-0)   Projected Winner: McCook   <ul><li>Although I have McCook favored to win in this game, Broken Bow has a very good squad that could give McCook trouble.</li><li>McCook does a great job winning at the line of scrimmage and imposing their will with a strong running game.</li><li>Tough, defensive game here!</li></ul>   Player of the Game: RB [player_tooltip player_id='239167' first='Jacob' last='Gomez-Wilson']    #11 Platteview (6-3) at #6 Adams Central (7-2)   Projected Winner: Adams Central   <ul><li>Adams Central was one of the more impressive and balanced teams in Class C1. Still a very dangerous team with their only loses coming to Aurora and McCook.</li><li>The rushing dup of [player_tooltip player_id='227021' first='Hyatt' last='Collins'] and [player_tooltip player_id='250400' first='Nick' last='Conant'] is one of the scariest tandems in the state.</li><li>The Adams Central defense has also been very good. They have great athletes at every level of the defense.</li><li>Don't underestimate [player_tooltip player_id='239029' first='Jared' last='Kuhl'] and this Platteview offense. Columbus Lakeview won that game 14-10.</li><li>I don't think this game will be similar to the first game. A low scoring game with some great defense on display.</li><li>I do think that Wahoo will pull it out this time around. They seem to be a much better team than when they were sitting at 2-3 after the Lakeview loss.</li><li>Don't be surprised if this is game is won on a game-ending INT or sack.</li></ul>   Player of the Game: DB [player_tooltip player_id='398564' first='Zach' last='Fox']    #15 Central City (5-4) at #2 Pierce (9-0)   Projected Winner: Pierce   <ul><li>Pierce has been one of the more dominant teams in Class C1 and is seeing early projections to be one of the teams in Lincoln.</li><li>Central City is no easy matchup with a high-flying offense and several great weapons.</li><li>The Scholting to Brahmer connection begin their last playoff run, so I'm expecting to see fireworks.</li><li>[player_tooltip player_id='245896' first='Keenan' last='Valverde'] is a close second to be player of the game.</li></ul>   Player of the Game: QB [player_tooltip player_id='217056' first='Abram' last='Scholting']    <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide"/>   Make sure to follow @PrepRedzoneNE on Twitter and Instagram to stay up to date with all your Nebraska prep recruiting news.
