Karson Borge – WR/SS, Aberdeen Central
Borge has some height on him and that is already helping him at this level of football, allowing him to be one of the better players for his team right now. Borge is getting some snaps both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball, making his potential high since he can play well doing both. Let’s dive into the details of what he does and that is using his size to either create separation or contain receivers on the defensive side, making him hard to contain on both aspects of it. The offense is where I see him making the most plays, that being that already he has a great sense of the field and how well he can maneuver around it already. On defense, he is playing a role of a disruptive safety who can jam up the middle and the field as a whole, but when facing faster receivers he seems to have some problems with that. With focus and hard work, I see Borge as someone that could become a top player on both sides of the ball since he is already doing things that veteran players struggle to hone at times.
Ethan Polsinelli – OLB/DE, Watertown
Polsinelli is very intriguing to me already since his ability to come off the edge fast and do it well is peaking my attention already. He is very fast when lining up down on the defensive line and he can blow by the offensive lineman to do one thing and that gets sacks. His ability to get into the backfield is impressive to me and has shown some flashes of how savvy he can be when it comes to not only reading blocks but shedding them too. He is not much of a coverage player overall, he does not get many snaps there and I do not see him doing much of that if he continues to do what he does. He can also fit into the box for a late rush as the defense’s play develops, making him always a threat when he is on the field. His run-stopping is something else that he should put some work into to make his ability as an OLB or DE truly great. Overall he is a defensive prospect with a great floor already, making him someone that I will have my eye on.
Zach Gunderson – CB, Sioux Falls Washington
Gunderson is not the biggest or best young cornerback that I have ever seen but he plays like he is. That is something that Gunderson as a cut above the players at his level is his overall work ethic and ability to never let a play be his fault. While he might get beat sometimes, he will never give up by allowing the receivers to just score without him trying his all to stop him. That level of grit and motor is something you love to see at this young level and shows that later on, he will put in the work to become the best. He has some great hands along with some arms that can jam a wideout but avoid penalties along the way. Gunderson is not a flashy player or someone that tries to be the center of attention, but what he does is play his heart out and be the hardest-working player on the field.
Cody Petersen – T/DE, Tea Area
Petersen is seriously talented and has some great abilities in his bag already at his young age. He mainly takes snaps as an offensive tackle and he can shift around on that line to give some serious protection for his team overall. He has taken some snaps at varsity, and in those, he has been an exceptional blocker in those games. He can protect the blindside well and builds up trust in his QB fast with how well he can jam defenders off the edge. Run blocking is where I see him being elite, he plays in a run-heavy system, and he can down some big blocks for his team to allow the offense to roll along. On defense, he slots into what would be seen as a run stuffer and someone who can use his big body to clog up the middle for running backs overall. Petersen is someone that can be a beast on both sides of the ball and it seems as if he is already getting there. Make sure you watch out for this kid, I have a feeling he is going to do some great things.
